Taylor Swift: I'll Never Be Afraid to Show Real & Raw Emotions

Taylor Swift: I'll Never Be Afraid to Show Real & Raw Emotions

Taylor Swift shows off her baby blue eyes on the cover of New York Magazine‘s latest issue.

Here’s what the 23-year-old singer had to share with the mag:

On how her life has changed: “I always wanted to know and I always used to daydream about what it would be like to stand on a really big stage and sing songs for a lot of people, songs that I had written…Daydreaming was kind of my No. 1 thing when I was little, because I didn’t have much of a social life going on. I didn’t always have 14,000 people wanting to hang out with me on a Saturday night.”

On country music: “Country radio is much more like a family than any other group of people that I’ve met. They just say, ‘Look, we’ve known each other for years. You’ve stood by us, and we’ve stood by you. That’s how this works.’”

On things not always being okay: “I think that allowing yourself to feel raw, real emotions in public is something I am never going to be afraid to do. Hopefully that’s the case, if I can remain a real human. I’m fine with being honest with my fans about the fact that it’s okay that everything isn’t okay all the time. I love my life, I love my career, I love my friends—but things are not okay all the time. So I don’t sing about things being okay all the time.”

On her future in the music business: “When I’m 40 and nobody wants to see me in a sparkly dress anymore, I’ll be, like: ‘Cool, I’ll just go in the studio and write songs for kids.’ It’s looking like a good pension plan.”

Anyone else find it completely ironic that at the top of the cover it says “Wake up Sheeple!” And then there’s Taylor Swift on the cover…. Really? Wake up sheeple is right, and figure out what true talent and music is.

    pika Says:

@Roxanne: because being rich is why she is better than us? money has nothing to do with intelligence level. especially when kids nowadays can get famous for having minimal talent.

    Sheri Says:

Only someone 23 years old would consider someone 40 practically over the hill and talking about pension plans! She will find out one day how young 40 really is. She has always struck me as someone who is very immature for her age. Her emotional level seems to be stuck at around age 16.

    SHOW BIZ Says:

This twitwits career never really took off and its marketing campaign and bogus accounting books are already naming it the… “best popstar of the year”. Shows you the only talent you really need to be a junky idiot is to just go out there and be one.

    Fercat Says:

Yes, 40 is about right to start planning for eventual retirement, actually it should be even earlier.

I guess some commenters here are a little dyslexic.

    Avril Says:

I really have no idea if haters are that stupid or they actually don’t interpret what they read and just assume what they want to hear :S
She’s not talking about retiring at 40. She’s saying that IF people will stop listening to her music when she’s 40 then she’s gonna find something else to do like writing songs for kids.
She’s not talking about retirement, on the contrary, she’s saying she’ll keep working.
You don’t even know to read and then you’re calling her immature, come on!
And to answer to the magazine question “Why Taylor Swift is the biggest pop star in the world?” Because, as you might find out in that article, it takes a lot more than just singing and getting naked to be on top of world. Learn from Taylor!
I’m so proud of her and I hope she never changes!

For crying out loud, Swifty is only 23. She doesn’t need “to find someone.” Live life, kid, and enjoy your gorgeous ocean edge home and the wonderful people there in Westerly/Watch Hill.
