'It's a Wonderful Life' Sequel In the Works!

A sequel to the beloved movie It’s a Wonderful Life is reportedly in the works for a release in the 2015 holiday season, according to Variety.

The movie will be titled It’s A Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story and will star Karolyn Grimes, who played the role of George Bailey’s daughter Zuzu in the original film and said the iconic line “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings!”

In the new film, Karolyn will play an angel who shows George Bailey’s unlikeable grandson (who has the same name) “how much better off the world world have been had he never been born.”

“The storyline of the new film retains the spirit of the original – every life is important as long as you have friends,” screenwriter and producer Bob Farnsworth said.

“The new film will retain the feeling of the original, and it simply must be shared,” Karolyn said. “I’ve probably read close to 20 scripts over the years suggesting a sequel to It’s a Wonderful Life, but none of them were any good. The script by Bob Farnsworth and Martha Bolton was wonderful, and I wanted to be involved with his version of the film immediately.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK about a sequel to It’s a Wonderful Life?

Why mess with a classic? Just no

  • Rae

This is the WORST idea ever.
Time to march on Hollywood, this nonsense of remaking everything has got to stop.

  • kel

  • Scott

I just threw up a little in my mouth!
Just when you think Hollywood could not sink any lower!

It’s a horrible, terrible, awful idea just to get as much money as they can with the minimum of effort!

    It’s An Unoriginal Life.

I won’t watch it. There is only one “It’s a Wonderful Life”. A sequel will just be a cheap imitation.

  • Emma

@kel: So agree! Hollywood needs to stop messing with originals. There are a lot of creative people who can write wonderful stories, but Hollywood is too lazy and just want $$$.

  • Dang!!

Do anyone in HW have an new idea or a thought that has not already been produced!!???? Why are they continuing to mess with originals! First TV great shows, then old classic movies and now they got to screw up the classic Holiday movies!

***END WHITE SUPREMACY in the NFL*** !!! The NFL and COCA COLA are promoting RACISM, BIGOTRY, and ETHNIC BULLYING with the sponsorship of the Washington “Redskins” team nickname. They are supporting, enabling, and profiting off of Institutional Racism. The NFL, Redskins, and sponsor COCA COLA are violating Federal Labor Laws by promoting racial discrimination in the workplace WITH racial slurs and ethnic hostility
End the ethnic Bullying and Institutional Racism perpetuated by writing to COCA COLA, and your Senator or Congressman to strip the NFL from its tax exempt status. As Taxpaying citizens of the United States, we demand that our government end financial benefits to organizations that promote Institutional Racism, Bigotry, and Ethnic BULLYING.

  • avlisk

Make it only if Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sly Stallone is in it. Otherwise, it will be a waste of time. See, I can be just as silly as the guys with the idea of making the sequel.

  • Verity

@avlisk: Thank you! Hollywood needs to leave classics alone.

People people people, you have to read. They aren’t remaking the movie, they are making a sequel. So let us take a collective breath in and let it out and calm down. Now that being said, this is a horrible ghastly mistake. Good lord, who is agreeing to this? I hope these people realize it won’t make it on the big screen; it’ll probably go straight to DVD. They’d be better off trying to make it an ABC Family or Hallmark special for next Christmas and bill it as a movie that could be a sequel to the idea of the movie It’s a Wonderful Life.

I understand that there are some movies that are so wonderful and popular that the idea of keeping the story going is intriguing but sometimes you have to realize that the story finished nicely and the movie is over. It’s time to leave the classics alone.

I have the hardest time believing that original ideas have run out in Hollywood. I have a couple handful of ideas to sell them if they need’em! Haha. Hell there are even some reworks of other ideas that haven’t been made. Who hasn’t read an awesome book or two that hasn’t been made into a movie. People love book movies. Or what about computer games? I know of 3 I’d just love to see be made into movies.
