    She was AMAZING! GO J-LO SO PROUD!

  • Loser gaga

    jenny is the best!

  • NO

    That performance was all about JLO. They had her name plastered on the screens instead of photos of the great Celia Cruz. Jlo was already a bad choice but the American choice because they know her. I bet the Latin music awards will have another tribute to Celia and do it right with true musicians who will keep it about Mrs. Cruz, as she deserves.

    Best performance of the night, and I loved the music!

  • Loser gaga

    she stomped taylor swift and rihanna combined!

  • Loser gaga

    to lady gaga: this is how you do it. enough with your silly gimmicks!

  • Grace

    Diva! She gave a great performance here.

  • tulino

    Best show of the year 2013, Jennifer Lopez did an amazing job. Now I respect Jennifer Lopez as a singer, she killed it, it was awesome. Congratulation Jennifer Lopez your steal the night. Best of the best.

  • LOL

    in what world did this steal the night?

  • ladyb

    She looks great…I honestly think she’s awesome when she sticks to spanish music. More Spanish, less english music.

  • Amy

    @tulino:

    As a singer? Seriously? A back up dancer maybe.

  • KC :)

    Not really a JLo fan, but I think this is one of her best performances. First of all, she sang live, and second, even with her dancing, her voice wasn’t “shaky.” By the way, I agree with post #3, almost no Celia Cruz’ pictures, even though it was her tribute.

    :)

  • sammi

    great performance.

  • tulino

    @Amy:

    Yes, I respect Jennifer Lopez as a singer, she did an excellent job, and when I saw her in her world tour, she sould great live singing and dancing a the same time. Everybody has its opion, and this is mine, Jennifer Lopez is one of the best singer of our generation, and the best performance.

  • cameron

    I thought it was a great performance.. Celia Cruz was Afro-Cuban. This performance would’ve been more fitting at the Grammy’s/ Latin Grammy’s not, the American Music Awards. It was more about JLO, not Celia

  • cameron

    @Loser Gaga
    Taylor didn’t perform and Rihanna did a great job last year at the Grammy’s for the Bob Marley Tribute.

  • maria

    wow…jlo really killed it and owned that stage….nicely done.

  • Agree w/ No

    This was about JLO and not about Celia whose voice was powerful and passionate.

  • Nev

    AMAZING.

  • sea

    Great performance, very entertaining. She is sooo much better than the stiff Beyonce as a dancer.

  • Natasha (Nataliya) Stasyi

    Sexy latina chick)) I wish 1 day I have a chance 2 see her live!

  • She Stinks!

    What an insult to the Celia Cruz legacy. These vocals were pre-recorded, JHO never sounded like this, live. Notice how the microphone covers her mouth? She’s so sloppy and out of breath, you really think she could keep up with the vocals? Please. I hope some of the back up dancers get hazard pay for have to hoist up such an oversized load. This is a tacky disgrace.

  • Rocky

    @NO:

    As someone who got the opportunity to see the REAL Celia Cruz in person, I can honestly say that JLo was just damn AWFUL! Celia had a voice that could rock the entire house without a mic. Celia must have been turning over in her grave listening to that crap! This wasn’t a tribute to Celia, but another opportunity for someone who can’t sing, dance or act to show the world she truly can’t sing, dance or act! Awful performance.

  • Rocky

    @Agree w/ No:

    AMEN!! AMEN!!!!!

  • breezedash

    I LOVE YOU JENNIFER! Don’t pay attention to the haters, because they’re nothing and you are THE ONE AND ONLY

  • Brazilian girl

    AMAZING peformance! JLo killed it again!

  • cheap

    @Rocky: thank you, my mother saw celia perform and she was cringing watching JLo. first off, it should’ve been a cuban singer doing a tribute for celia, not a puerto rican, any cubans that were watching this must’ve been laughing their asses off. plus JLo’s singing was weak as hell, not like the strong resonance of celia’s vocals, pre-recorded or not. what JLo is is a really good DANCER, not singer or actress, she knows she can play it up as hard as she wants with the dancing because its more entertaining than just standing on one spot and singing. but of course the americans will eat it up though and think its fabulous when they have no true knowledge of celia’s talent and impact on the music industry. this was all self-promotion for JLo, JLo thinks when she gets as old as celia, she will be just as much of a celebrated performer as celia. LOOOOOL no comparison necessary.

  • Jen

    Nailed it Jen!

  • Man Eater

    People, People, people STOP HATING!!!! so what if she’s not cuban like Celia, so what if her voice is not as strong as Celia she is not trying to be Celia nor is she her. She did a great job and performed the hell out of those songs. Especially as hispanic people you should be more supportive regardless of which country your from because guess what there’s not many of us on TV with her stats. She stays consistant who doesn’t know who J.Lo is? Overall, she did a great job! For you haters out there let me see you get on stage singing and dancing probably 1/2 of you can’t, so stop it.

  • Lillian

    She may not be the greatest singer but last night, hers was the most entertaining performance of the night. It woke up the croud for sure. Jlo did great and looked great as always

  • guest

    I’m not Cuban but I know Celia’s music and what Lopez did was pure garbage. And to support her just because she is Spanish is stupid, support someone who is truly gifted and lopez just isn’t.

  • levi

    @Rocky:

    she is not trying to be celia. this is a tribute. learn the difference. she isn’t speaking for a community. she is honoring her influence on jennifer’s own career. celia has a different range than jen, but this was a damn impressive effort. after 20 years in the industry…she is fabulous.

  • frederickk

    Excellent performance, really entertaining, she’s what, 44? she can still bring it all these years later. Kudos to her.

  • I don’t like mondays

    How does JLo even rate a performance slot on this show?

  • is her lip synching improving

    Man she sure blows I mean knows the right people.

  • Roz Livingston

    Jennifer Lopez Rocks! She is an amazing dancer and entertainer. She is also in great shape and makes even the younger women in the industry look like they haven’t a clue as to what they’re doin’. You Go JLO!!!! : )

  • YEAH

    This should have been done at a Latin award show, or subtitles should have been shown. This is America, speak english.

  • just sayin

    @guest:Oh and by the way Jlo doesn’t look anything like Celia. But she can move to Celia’s music and that was what Celia was all about. Salsa music is for dancing and Jlo did that. She put a lot of Azucar in her performance whether you like it or not, you are entitled to your opinion.

  • mimi

    Jlo is@cheap: Oh Stop, she does not have to be Cuban to perform a Celia number. Be a little more open minded.

  • hey hey hey

    @NO: The Latin show may have another tribute but it’s not going to be as good as Jlo’s. Celia has been gone for ten years and the Latin shows have not tried to pay homage to Celia so people need to suck it up.

  • karina

    To all the Celiz Cruz fans hating on JLo and claiming she didn’t do your idol justice, just be thankful that 90% of America finally know who the hell she is. Get off your self-righteous horse.

  • buckgerard

    Buena presentación y buen homenaje a Celia. Algo que pocos notan es que los bailarines han incorporado el estilo del baile de Cali – Colombia en su rutina. Para mi fue lo más emocionante. Bien por JLo.

    Good presentation and good tribute to Celia. Something few people realize is that the dancers have incorporated dancing style from Cali – Colombia into the routine. For me it was the most exciting. Well by JLo.

  • donworryaboutit
  • donworryaboutit

    @NO: This is so TRUE, the majority of these people that say she did an “amazing job” are blinded they really don’t know REAL Artist and Real singers.

  • donworryaboutit

    @Rocky: Is true she CAN”T sing lol…Haven’t anyone notice she NEVER duets with Real women artist, like Celine Dion, Barbara, Mariah Carey or Adele? she is ridiculous she does this just to keep herself out there no more than that.

  • donworryaboutit

    @hey hey hey: You don’t know that, They been had done that.

  • Tom Sky

    @donworryaboutit: I’ve been to a LOT of famous/great singers/artists shows. Many of them have amazing vocals, but can’t dance, and viceversa. Jlo’s performance was A1. The vocals, the dancing was superb. Very entertaining.

  • hey hey hey

    @donworryaboutit:I do know that, have you ever seen the tribute to Selena?…very bad!! The latino shows have the worse dancers and singers.

  • Elena

    @Rocky:
    Thank you, Rocky! I didn’t have the pleasure to see the Queen but love salsa music and have watched several of her videos. This show had nothing to do with Celia and her music. I am not Latina but all my Latino friends cringed at JLo’s performance. And it was not just the vocals, of course the vocally limited Lopez cannot sing Celia’s songs. But having half-naked male dancers tossing Ms. Lopez around was an insult to Celia’s performances. She was so much more than colorful outfits, big hair and pseudo-sexy moves. What a shame!

  • Elena

    @cheap:

    Exactly! All the positive comments come form people who have no clue about Celia, her amazing voice and music. This was not a tribute, it was a Las Vegas type of show.
