Katie Couric Joins Yahoo as Global Anchor, Interview Host

Katie Couric‘s move to Yahoo is now official and she will be making the internet her primary platform after serving as a journalist on television for the past 34 years.

The 56-year-old talk show host will oversee video news content and host a monthly interview series for the company starting in early 2014.

“It’s very exciting to be a part of a leading company at the intersection of content and technology,” Katie said in a statement. ”I have great admiration for Marissa Mayer and her team and their commitment to bringing news, entertainment and information to the Yahoo community across multiple platforms. Joining Yahoo offers a tremendous opportunity to reach people all around the world in the way that they’re using and consuming media today.”

Katie has negotiated an early exit from her deal as a special correspondent for ABC News, though she will continue with her daytime talk show Katie for the time being. It is not expected for the show to be renewed for a third season.

Wasn’t aware that Yahoo had “multiple” platforms – maybe I should have invested in the stock

Finally! I look forward to NOT seeing her on my TV screen. I lost all respect for Couric years ago. She was good on the Today Show and should have stayed there. Instead envy made her to believe she could be THE female TV news woman and she doesn’t have the chops for it. She was given the chance and failed miserably. ABC made a huge blunder in bringing to their network as her talk show was/is AWFUL.

Since I don’t see/read/listen to anything on Yahoo, I won’t have to listen/watch ‘KATIE!’ any longer.

Now if ABC would just get rid the equally awful ‘The Chew’. : (

Sheesh, you WOMEN! Maybe Couric didn’t want to stay on the doggone “Today Show.” Maybe she was tired of it… or bored. Aren’t people allowed to makes changes for themselves and pursue their own personal passions??????? From you, the answer is obviously “NO.” She has to do what you want her to do, because getting what you want is all you care about. OMG! I haven’t seen anything about this woman that should warrant so much hatred. She has had a terrific career and she has stood the test of time, even during intense pain in her personal life. She raised great daughters. She’s a good person. What more do you want?

Old media being replaced by new media is nothing new. Just as after Nov 22 1963 a weekend when we were all transfixed by TV, Television became more than the medium of choice it was the only medium anyone could envision capturing an event. When the weekend was over, print would never again challenge TV as the public’s primary source of information and authority. Television would never be the same ; neither would we.Now its TV’s turn as we transition to another medium for news http://wp.me/p2qifI-1Qc
