Paul Walker Died Alongside Former Racer Roger Rodas

The alleged driver of the car that was involved in a crash that killed Paul Walker has been identified as former race car driver Roger Rodas, according to a Santa Clarita radio station with sources close to the situation.

Roger was the CEO of the company Always Evolving, a car customization shop. The charity event for Reach Out Worldwide was being held at the company’s headquarters in Santa Clarita that afternoon when he went for a drive with Paul in a Porsche Carrera GT, which happens to be one of Roger‘s favorite cars. Both of them died in the crash after the car exploded into flames.

The friends had met when they raced cars together at the Pirelli World Challenge series years ago.

We send our continued thoughts and prayers to both Paul and Roger‘s families during this difficult time.

@SHINE: Don’t try to make it into something it wasn’t. It was purely an accident, obviously.

Such a shame that two young people lost their lives over something stupid.
New Porsche + professional driver = speeding. They decided to go for a joy ride, and have now forever changed the lives of their families.
It’s just a miracle that they didn’t kill anyone else.
Praying for their families.

that's just awful @ 12/01/2013 at 6:00 am

Are the safety features of a Porsche Carrera GT so bad that it bursts into flame when it crashes?

Really going to miss this guy although is no one from my family and also does not know me but going to miss him because he is one of the stars i really look up to

Light a candle for him to find his way. It is the least we can do for someone who shared his light with us during his life.

It is really hard to believe that he is gone, it is just so sad. Fast and Furious will not be the same without him. R.I.P

Paul was the victim of Roger’s irresponsibility…

Never race on city streets unless it is a sanctioned event. You never know what debris is on the street. A little oil on the road and you are dead. Not worth it.

Thankful they didn’t kill other innocent drivers and their families on that road too! These celebrities need to just chill it with their fame and invincibility. Ironic that it was after a charity event for children?

@that’s just awful:

The fuel tank on a Porsche is in the front; thus if they hit something head-on, it would be logical that it would have erupted into flames.

RIP Paul and Roger. By the witness statements the “car burst into flames then crashed in to a pole and a tree”. Any one find this a bit sus? Paul always promoted road safety and Roger was an experienced driver….

GUSTHECAT @ 12/01/2013 at 9:33 am

It wasn’t a joy ride, they were parting in a charity event.

EndOfTime @ 12/01/2013 at 9:54 am

RIP to both of them, this is too sad

The Porsche Carrera GT it has the gas tank behind the seats.
