Tyrese Gibson Visits Paul Walker Crash Site for Emotional Tribute

Tyrese Gibson is understandably overcome with grief while visiting the crash site of his good friend and former co-star Paul Walker after his tragic death on Saturday (November 30) in Santa Clarita, Calif.

In this video (via TMZ), the 34-year-old actor fights through tears as he pays his respects with yellow flowers while walking around a makeshift memorial, surrounded by fans.

Paul passed away at the age of 40 after the car he was in hit a tree and burst into flames. The driver of the car, race car driver Roger Rodas, also tragically passed.

“I will keep your energy with me forever #AshesOfAnAngel fast family around the world we live you and we love you Paul is the heartbeat of this franchise and were gonna see to it that his energy and presence lives on forever #myhearthurtssobad,” Tyrese captioned an Instagram photo of his hand holding part of the wreckage.

He also shared his last text exchange with Paul, which you can see below.

Our thoughts are with Tyrese and the rest of Paul‘s loved ones during this difficult time.

OMG, that brought tears to my eyes. I can’t stop thinking of his tragic death. RIP Paul

  • Frida

I’m sorry but can’t people goddamn leave him alone while he’s mourning his friend, instead of shoving phones and cameras in his face?!

  • 244455787

Are people seriously standing around with their stupid Iphones out recording someone who is grieving over someone they lost in a terrible accident? Give these people some space

  • staynzy

I agree those people filming a grieving person are ridiculous, leave him in peace to grieve, it is horrible even more so the fact paul wasn’t the driver.

  • Mkhay

really hard to watch and can’t help but cry. Its sad that he cab’t even have his own privacy why mourning for his friend.

  • Jen

What the hell is wrong with people? Why is he being filmed while trying to grieve for his lost friend? People are so stupid. RIP Paul :( you will be missed.

  • J

so sad and touching I just wanna give him a hug..

  • jack

so sad!we will miss him forever….

  • Haters Suck!

I honestly dont think Tyrese even notices the people around him. When you go through a tragedy like this you’re just in a completly different head space you kinda just become numb to the world. He’s been in mourning on twitter since this happend. Even posted the f&f cast celebrating Pauls birthday. It’s just very sad man.

  • sad

Wow I started crying…Just so sad..

  • ugh

@Justin: What do you mean by, “He could have waited?” When tragedies like this happen, you don’t “wait” to grieve. Grief also does not last for a day. It lasts for a period. When I heard that my parents passed in the hospital, I cried immediately. This just happened and Tyrese can’t believe his friend is gone. There was nothing wrong or abnormal about his response to go to the site where it happened.

  • dani

@Haters Suck!: they’re incredibly close. i can’t imagine what tyrese is going through but for those low lives to be shoving their phones up his face during this time of mourning is tasteless and absolutely pathetic of them. they should be ashamed of themselves. paul’s inner beauty truly matched his outer beauty, he was never one of the hollywood guys, he always kept to himself and did amazing philanthropic work and great acts of kindness for others. i can’t imagine how meadow must be feeling, her tribute of her father made me tear up. R.I.P. Paul and Roger :(

  • Haters Suck!

    @dani
If you’re talking about that tribute on Facebook, it was fake. That wasnt really Paul’s daughter and its been taken down.

  • S

RIP Paul. I feel bad that his friends and family cannot even mourn in peace.

  • Yikes

RIP Paul Walker! Can someone please do a Buddhist or feng shui ceremony for him at the site, given the violent nature and the fact that it’s become a gawk zone. These ceremonies are very calming for the spirits. There’s nothing it in western cultures. And please close off the location except for close friends and family members.

  • anna

Why do good people got to go first… :’( it should’ve been kanye west or justin bieber…

    RIP Paul :( luv ya

  • Ju.de

My favourite actor, very talented, generous and humble.. I’m devastated !

  • Shamu

Yes, this was a tradegy, but saying things like “It should’ve been Justin Bieber” is just callous. You should never wish for anyone’s death. Karma is a bitch, people.

  • Ugh

This is just so sad. Tyrese is having a very hard time over his friend. May Paul’s family and friends find peace and heal in due time. It won’t be easy but the pain does ease over time.

  • Oliver

They Should give Tyrese Gibson privacy and respect to close friends, all the paparazzi taking photos and filming, he was like did not where to go . it is hurts too much losing a close friend.

  • annie

this guy is full of sh*t !! publicity for himself.. gross

  • http://Twitter Ggg

The person who filmed this is scum! Including all the other degenerates standing around with their phones filming and taking pictures. Give the man a break, he just lost a friend. The last thing he needs is a bunch of retards standing around taking pictures. Get a life!

  • Tarrah

wow leave the man alone he wants to say his goodbyes all u freaken ass holes recording him some ppl just have no respect

  • Roger Bettelyoun

I was thinking Tyrese was showing up supposedly grieving for Paul when in fact it was just to get his name out there for his new movie he directed. What a loser to use a horrible death for self promotion. Truly disgusting.

  • Roger Bettelyoun

    Nice acting dude….

  • whoa!

@Roger Bettelyoun: You’re ridiculous! Tyrese showing up is ALSO showing Walker’s family and close friends how much Walker was loved and respected by the people he worked with. Staying quiet is the last thing Hollywood should do. Many people often say the outpouring of love and support from others is what helped them get through the grief of losing a loved one. By all accounts, Walker was a good man and father.

How did something this personal and private become entertainment for you to capture and post? This is so messed up. Writing a story is one thing but actually putting up footage? Come on. RIP Paul Walker, and prayers to his family and friends.
