Tamik added, “She’s now looking at various colleges with the intention of majoring in fashion design. She’s mentioned before she’s interested in creating a clothing line.”

“Despite the fact Amanda is no longer in a facility, her outpatient treatment is continuing. She’s very happy to reestablish the loving relationship with her family that she once shared,” Tamik said.

Um, ever read books on psychology and case studies on schizo? England is way more advanced than the USA. Either her parents jacked her up or someone in the biz did. I’m betting on the parents, a neurotic mother put all her shite onto the daughter and whamo it manifests in adulthood. I’ve seen it countless of times, no every time. Good luck USA cause no pill will fix ur shite. Hold parents accountable, they are the ones who created these horrible mental health issues, educate them.

LOL she is a joke thinking she has a creative fashion sense with her hoodies, weed, sweat pants. She has no class

  • pika

@Chhay Sun: so ur judging purely on her appearance even whilst she was having a breakdown? i’ve seen ppl who dress down a lot but design clothes in college and damn they are good at what they do – they just dont flaunt it

good luck amanda, i hope they dont attempt to taint ur mind again.

Plenty of people with mental illness (and/or have overcome addictions) go to college and have meaningful careers. Why wouldn’t she go? I know folks managing a mental illness with medications who are social workers, artists, medical technicians etc. etc. Sometimes they might have relapses, but they come back. Colleges, workplaces and yes, the world is full of very useful, productive, creative and imperfect people.

You’re such an idiot. If you read any medical literature on schizophrenia or schizoaffective, you would understand that it is not caused by other people or “bad influences”. Ending stigma starts with putting a stop to your ignorance.

Hear, hear. Am so happy to see a lot of people on this forum saying some positive and intelligent things.

  • Yup

She should get a sober companion or something of that sort to help her get through adjustment. It’s usually the first few moths that are crucial and can help her relapse and can even overdose. Hopefully she gets her life back on track again, with the proper support, I believe she can at least get back on the right track.

    good for her

She isn’t just an ordinary addict who completed rehab. She is mentally ill and her outbreakes were not caused by the substance abuse but by her illness. If she won’t follow the doctor’s orders, she is more likely to set fire to someone’s house again or harm herself or others in some different way than to “simply” overdose.

  • who

I’m very happy for her. Good luck in your studies and your life, Amanda.

  • Yup

@Josephine: Yes, I’m aware of her mental illness. That was why I suggested that she get someone to help her through this time because as opposed to being in a facility where she is given her meds in time and looked after, in real life she might have not had someone like that before that’s why she went downhill. She could even overdose on her antipsychotic meds (if that’s what she’s being prescribed) if she is without proper help and guidance this crucial period.

ITA. She needs ‘positive’ energy around her. I’m praying she gets well and lives a long and happy life. I hope the ‘ugly’ people who post don’t post negative comments, as she might read JJ and the last thing anyone wants is to hear ‘negatives’ when they are trying to sort themselves out. ALL THE BEST AMANDA!

So many people hating !!! Jeez!
At least Amanda is DOING something!! Studies is a good way for her to get her life back on track. For sure, she will need some kind of extra support. Her parents are there for her!! It’s people like you guys saying that she is joke that are not helping at all. Anyway, good luck Amanda!! :)

  • glenn

i wish the best, she is too young to waste his life, good luck

  • ericgeneric

she wants to go to college?! sounds like she’s in manic episode this time! send her back to mental facility ASAP!!

  • Lila

These negatives comments are awful! Mental illness is a serious disease, and not many people are strong enough or have a good support system behind them to encourage them to get help. Thankfully she seems to have concerned and grounded parents – best of luck to her. I hope she takes her time to get better and places that as her priority. And when the time comes around, I hope she will return to acting! She’s so talented and has great comic timing – loved The Amanda Show and the movie She’s the Man. Hopefully she gets healthy first and foremost, and then back to work!

  • Grace

It would be a lot better for her to major in psychology instead. It would help her first and foremost with what she went through & because of her experiences she’d be the perfect example to help other people as well. Fashion design is a stupid major to waste money for in College. When it comes to fashion, you either have the artistic creativity or you don’t. Italian designers don’t go through the “educational system of fashion” that some do in L.A…… yet they’re the best, along with the French designers. She doesn’t have it in her, she’s just going to waste her money on college and go crazy again. She’d be a lot more successful if she were to become a great psychologist one day, in my opinion. Good luck to her anyway. I sympathize with her & wish her well.

  • Neil

She is a talented girl but I think she has drifted from what she is to what she thinks she is. What she thought she was wasn’t helpful to the talented person she really is. She is a comic actor and she should be putting all her energy towards that. Try some stand-up, do workshops, have RESPECT for the craft. Hope she figured it out, if not now then soon.
If she works on that all the other stuff will fade to memory.

  • Jack

I wish her the best…and hope she knows many love her work and care for her….my god bless you always…
