I had to shut it off after the first 15 minutes, who ever decided to cast a country twanger for Maria? And not only did Carrie sound like country singing with no emotion but she can’t act to save her life. The whole thing was a low budget mess!!

No, I was so uninterested I forgot it was on.

No need for a negative comment like that, Jordan. And I agree with kel, it was great!

Watched, loved it. I thought Carrie did a good job in spite of not being an actress. Obviously she was cast for her amazing vocals. I greatly enjoyed watching.

Having seen the Julie Andrews version, and many Broadway productions, I have to give kudos to Carrie’s performance. For someone who is not classically trained as a Broadway performer and actress she was really good. She seemed to have opened herself up more after Audra Macdonald sang Climb Every Mountain. Great job Carrie. I also love the way the production was done. There were a couple of songs that never made it to the screen, so that was appreciated as well. Great job producers and director! xo

A live 3 hour musical was a massive undertaking, and overall it turned out well. People can complain as much as they want about Carrie’s acting, but her vocals were great and her star power brought in many of the 18 million viewers. Hope it leads to other musical productions like this.

nope. I realize this a play version which was first before the movie, but the movie had so much more emotion and had REAL actors. Carrie should not have been in this role.

Well Jordan and huh-you two must be really sad bitter people. I do believe I have read your tirades before on blogs when Carrie is the subject. This was live TV and they all did a beautiful job and there was no twang in Carrie’s singing. So Jordan this leads me to believe that you did not watch the show-you just wanted to make snarky comments. Grow up!

    Mare Says:

It was probably one of the most terrible things I have seen! I had to shut it off after about and hour and a half. I don’t even know how I lasted that long. I understand that it was a live performance and I really tried to give it a chance but lord it was bad. The acting was atrocious, the emotion in the singing was meh. Kudos to the kids who played the Von Trapps but let’s never do that again!

I think that the entire show was great. Kudos to Carrie Underwood, of course she is not a professional actress but all the same, she did an amazing job. Can any of you imagine doing a live 3 hour show and it also being her first real acting job? Well I can imagine the stress she was under and I do hope she reads my comment. This was like a Broadway performance, not a movie, so consider that when you are thinking about the show. There were no do overs, if they made a mistake they just had to keep going.with the flow. So after all that – Yes, I think that she did a wonderful job.

As the hate continues, I watched it again Friday evening and still enjoyed it. Great job to Carrie, cast, crew, and NBC. Great family entertainment!
