Oprah gave a wonderful performance in the butler

No Jake Gyllenhaal? He was great in Prisoners.

lupita’s performance in 12YAS was amazing, and she’s absolutely gorgeous and sweet to boot but hollywood will give the award to the white girl. anyways, shouldn’t amy be getting recognized as supporting actress over jennifer, she has a much bigger part than hers and is more talented acting-wise than jennifer and her oscar has been long overdue but i wouldn’t be surprised that o. russell and weinstein are making the media hype over j.law’s “custom made” small part.

I better see the cast of 12 years a slave take everything they’re nominated for, because they were unbelievable.

how on earth has Jennifer Lawrence got a nomination over both Christian Bale & Amy Adams who are the leads in american hustle.

To "True Teller" @ 12/11/2013 at 3:03 pm

@TrueTeller:

you haven’t seem the movie. troll. if you did, you would know that Lawrence stole it as all the reviews have almost unanimously been saying.

stop trolling

To "True Teller" @ 12/11/2013 at 3:05 pm

@sameold:

Do you even read what you write? You just said Amy has a bigger part so why isn’t she nominated in SUPPORTING ACTRESS… wouldn’t that make her contend for the lead actress category? And Weinstein has nothing to do with this picture, you idiot, this is a Megan Ellis production.

To "Talia" @ 12/11/2013 at 3:07 pm

@talia:

Do you even read what you write? You just said Amy AND Christian have bigger parts so… so thats why she is nominated in SUPPORTING ACTRESS… dumb dumb.

@@Benvolio @Sayer: SAG members did watch WOWS and they didn’t like his performance. Deal with it you stupid fangirl.

@Missy: Sunbbed? maybe he was just not good? Maybe he doesn’t deserve it for this performance which you haven’t seen yet? Maybe there are better than him?

I hope Lupita wins over Jlaw.

All I hope is that 12years a slave and breaking bad wins everything.

Very happy for Cate Blanchett and Barkhad Abdi.

Surprised by no Redford, Inside Llewyn Davis, Wolf of Wall Street or Her.

Why does Parks always get snubbed for awards?! American Hustle is getting so overhyped. Happy for Meryl and Sandra.

Can’t believe OITNB didn’t get a nod. Truly an ensemble cast of terrific actors.

love jared leto!

how come no one else from american hustle got nominated? bale, adams, cooper or renner :(

@To “Talia”: I was speaking in general terms, amy and christian are the leads yet they didn’t even get nominations in their respective categories (best actress and best actor) so your the one who needs to think before replying with a stupid comment

The only movie over hyped is 12 years a slave, go and watch Roots , same cr*p ., acting is so day time tv soaps, it’s like another Holocaust movie, boring and melodramatic, unoriginal.

American Hustle is the best movie of the year, 12 slave is just political correctness trying to destroy arts, oh we have to vote the black slave movie, please it would even be in the best picture if the PC barge didn’t dominate Hollywood.

I am so happy for 12 Years A Slave. The best of the year.

**********

There are countless movies about the American Civil War, yet there are only two movies from the slave perspective. African Americans were enslaved for over 2 hundred years, yet Hollywood never tells their stories. Slavery should never be hid away from our collective conscience. We become cold and callous to those people whose lives are as valid and valuable as the whites from that period. Also all those generations of blacks born and died in slavery are owed some respect, some acknowlegement of their existence. Their lives have myriad stories, and their stories will help the viewer never dismiss or disrespect the humanity of others. I think there are great stories to be told about ordinary human beings who lived imprisoned as slaves.

12 Years is a great movie…hope the cast wins this and that the film wins best picture at Oscars. Incredible story. Chiwetel and Lupita were great.

Hope Bryan Cranston wins for Breaking Bad….awesome acting, screen presence and look for that drama
