Lea Michele Performs 'Cannonball' on 'Ellen' (Video)

Lea Michele belts out her hit new song “Cannonball” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing today on NBC.

“Then after everything happened I met with Sia who’s incredible and she said do you want to write anything about this?…I explained to her you know how grief really just, you can get sucked into it. You can literally lose yourself if you don’t actually die from it you can lose yourself completely,” the 27-year-old entertainer told Ellen. “And I said to her I need to get out. I need to get out of my house. He would want me to live my life. I have to do this. She said, oh, that’s so crazy cause I wrote this song it’s called ‘Cannonball’ and you just said the lyrics. She played it for me…The minute I heard the song…I it lifted me up. It picked me up from everything.”

Check out the live performance below, and check out Lea‘s interview with Ellen, where she opens up about the death of Cory Monteith.

FYI: Lea is wearing a ring by Melinda Maria and earrings by EF Collection.

Finally someone you can actually sing. no lip-synching ! Even Beyonce or Mariah Carey who are really great singers have playback when they sing the refrain ;) I hope that Lea will have a wonderfull career like her idol Barbra Streisand

That is talent! She can sing live and hit every note, no matter how high. She truly is a gifted singer!

Wait, so she didn’t even write the song? That’s a little ridiculous. You’d think that if she was dedicating the album to Cory and sharing their story with the world, she’d at least pen the first single. It shouldn’t be “Oh look, here’s a cool song, let me just record it real quick”. Something like that needs to come from the heart and be at least a little personal, if not 100% original.

@Paul: Using playback isn’t (necessarily) an indication of vocal weakness. It’s just a technique some artists use to to achieve the original layered effect. Lea has a strong voice, but she is in no way superior to Beyonce or Mariah.

Orientals can hear, and see what you’re visually thinking.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE OR A MEME! This is the absolute complete truth!!!!!
.
Orientals hide their mind reading abilities by having completely expressionless faces so they don’t accidentally show facial expressions when people think things they don’t like, find funny, astonishing, etc, and Orientals segregate so their not nearly as susceptible to that happening.
Orientals also segregate, and are untalkative to avoid accidentally saying things that are similar to what people are thinking and going to say.
.
All Orientals are keeping their mind reading abilities a secret, they don’t want ANYONE to know they can read minds! They value hiding it more than their own lives!!!
.
Try thinking, and visually picturing things as wild as you can when you are around Orientals, and look for Orientals who give people dirty/particular looks for what appears to be for completely no reason, it works if you try enough!!!
.
PLEASE SPREAD THE MESSAGE!!!!! THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW THIS!!!!!

girl can really sing! and she’s really pretty. I like the hair xx

True talent! an Amazing Live Performance

I’m a major Lea and Glee fan, but I just feel her pipes don’t fit pop music. Her voice is made for Broadway. Pop does not fit her at all. Just my honest opinion. Not saying she doesn’t sound amazing, cause she does. Her voice is stellar! But doesn’t fit the style.

I always like her voice but the song. Nah! I know she can do pop, rnb, soul, etc.
