Phil Robertson's Family Refuses to Film 'Duck Dynasty' Without Him

The Robertson Family has just released a statement saying that they refuse to film their hit reality show Duck Dynasty without patriarch Phil Robertson, who was suspended by A&E over anti-gay comments he made to GQ.

“As a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty,” the family said. Read the full statement inside the post.

A&E announced the suspension on Wednesday night and said “we are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson‘s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty.”

The suspension has elicited a debate all across the country about first amendment rights and whether Phil should have been suspended for voicing his own opinion.

DO YOU THINK Phil Robertson should have been suspended from Duck Dynasty?

We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

If this old man is really deeply rooted to his religion, why is he judging another person? It’s disturbing to know that people are using God as an excuse to persecute,tp bully, practice bigotry, et al. If this man is truly a follower of God, especially Christ, then he would show compassion, love, and understanding on mankind, whatever their beliefs and sexual orientation is. Leave the judging to God.

The only hope I have is that none of his grandchildren or any child in that family turns out to be gay. Cause what would happen then with what he feels in his heart regarding the Bible.

@Great!: It bothers me that you and Phil believe you are speaking for all Christians. You are not. There are many of us who accept and love all God’s people and leave the final judgment to Him.

  • Haters Suck!

I don’t believe God will send gays and lesbians to hell. I just don’t believe that. The God I was raised to believe in, the God I was taught to believe in, the God i do believe in wouldn’t do that. I know a few gay and lesbian people for the most part they are the kindest most warm hearted people I know. If God sends them to hell then we’re all pretty $crewed.

Bible thumpers use the bible as a weapon to destroy the lives of others. I was watching a reality show where one of the characters is gay, he said that the pain he went through because of being Persian and Gay is so terrible. He went on to say that in his country it is either live a lie or commit suicide, I thought that was so sad. So many young beautiful adults who are gay suffer because of bigots and homophobics who are quite stupid. Actualy I should take the stupid back, they are just not that deep.

This entire argument shouldn’t be about religion or gay rights, it is In My Opinion the right that everyone should have to express their opinion. That doesn’t give anyone the right to harm others. But if you disagree with someones belief’s lifestyle, hair style , tattoo’s etc . etc. etc. YOU SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY SO !
WHich means that others then have the right to agree or disagree, in a nonviolent expression of opinions. Freedom of speech should not mean you can only say what is presently politically correct & I respect that A&E do not agree with Phil & should have the right to say so.

To suspend him from the show ,I believe is a mistake & goes too far. They should, if it makes them feel better ,put a notice out that they do not agree or support the belief’s of those who you are about to watch. That way people can then decide for themselves if they want to watch the show or not. As a 100% unbeliever in any organized religious group, that is my opinion & I have never used my belief that organized religion is a bandaid for the gullible & easily led to harm anyone, to sanction them or not enjoy their company or form a working relationship with them. The world needs more live & let live attitudes. People need to understand that not everyone will agree with your opinion & instead of sanctioning them , you should respect their right to live as they see fit. If they are not harming anyone , then I see no problem with their views ,even if they are completely contrary to my own.
