Bonnie McKee Covers Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' - Watch Now!

Check out Bonnie McKee‘s rendition of the hit song “Hallelujah“!

“I wanted to make a video for the holidays but none of the traditional holiday songs were moving me,” the 29-year-old singer shared to Rolling Stone about the video. “I know ‘Hallelujah’ isn’t actually a Christmas song, but it has that cozy, haunting vibe that sounds like a winter’s night and belongs by a fire.”

She added, “It’s still and reflective, one of the most beautiful descriptions of the sparkling highs and devastating lows of falling in love, and perfectly captures the thrilling rapture and free-falling fear we feel when we dare to really show ourselves to another person. This is my interpretation of Leonard Cohen‘s poetic masterpiece.”

Bonnie is set to release her new album early next year.

    That’s a very difficult song to sing. She nailed it for the most part. Her voice is exquisite. However, I would have preferred it done a tad differently where the dramatic parts are saved for the final 2 verses.
    Gorgeous voice, well done.

    She sang it in a way that disregarded the songs message. This is not a song for young artists who do not have the wealth of experience to truly feel this song.

    @Fercat:

    Have you ever heard Justin Timberlake’s version? It’s flawless.

  • natalie

    Best version ever is by Jeff Buckley! Followed by Cohen’s own.
    And yes, Justin Timberlake’s version is good too.

  • Sam

    KD Lang did it best. Amazing!

    @Looslipz:
    Justin Timberlake gave a good rendition, it was ok. Perhaps it’s because it was for Haiti relief.

    @Sam:
    That’s because she has lived this song. It’s not a song about a moment but about a life.
