Carly Rae Jepsen Sets Broadway Debut in 'Cinderella'!

Carly Rae Jepsen is set to make her Broadway theater debut in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, the New York Times reports.

The 28-year-old entertainer tweeted the news to her followers with the caption: “Dream come true~”

Carly will step into the title role on February 4 for a twelve week run, joining Fran Drescher, who will take on the role of Cinderella’s evil stepmother.

“It was essentially musical theater training with studies in singing, dancing and acting,” Carly Rae said about her musical theater training after high school. “My favorite part of the school year was our trip to New York, where we met Broadway performers and toured the theaters.”

“It’s so hopeful and inspiring,” Carly Rae added about her debut. “I’ve always been one to believe in the impossible, so I relate to her character completely.”

Very disappointed. Carly Rae is good with her pop music, I like a lot of her songs, but honestly, her voice is definitely not Broadway material. Her trying to succeed Laura Osnes is insanity. Also, since this is a 12-week run only, does this mean Laura is just taking a break or is she done with Cinderella? I really have to see this before Carly takes the stage and Laura is gone.

I think I speak for a lot of laura osnes ‘s fans. We are truly sorry to have immediately turned down Carly. We were just sad to see our idol leave the stage. It was just so unexpected and a lot of us do not like it when things change. A lot of us also were waiting to finally see Laura as Cinderella and now we can’t. If only we had a two weeks notice. Lol. But I think Carly deserves a chance to reach for her dreams. If her dream is to be on broadway, then I am so very happy she will finally get her chance. All I can say is best of luck to you Carly rae jepsen ! I hope you Carly fans don’t start hating on Laura because of her fan’s irrationality earlier.. ( that includes me) we were really just sad, but we have to accept it and move along. Carly, I can’t wait to see what you can do! I also can’t wait to watch your first ShowPeople interview!!! Congrats to you! And laura osnes we will miss you!
