Luke Grimes Exits 'True Blood' Final Season, Role to Be Recast

Luke Grimes has left the hit show True Blood and his role will be recast for the show’s seventh and final season, according to TV Line.

The 29-year-old actor joined the show last season as James, the soulful vamp-camp lover of Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll). He recently joined the cast of the movie Fifty Shades of Grey as the brother of Christian Grey.

“The role of James is being recast due to the creative direction of the character,” an HBO spokesperson said confirming the exit.

“He initially joined the show because he wanted to work with [his Forever co-star] Deborah Ann Woll,” an insider told the site. “But when he started reading the scripts for Season 7, he was disappointed to learn that they were going in a completely different direction with James.”
