Sara Bareilles: I Find Joy in Being Sassy & Crass!

Check out this candid Sara Bareilles interview from CBS Sunday Morning, which aired this past Sunday (January 5).

“I swear like a sailor. I find great joy in being a little bit sassy and crass, and – I don’t know, going against the grain a little bit. I find a lot of joy in that,” the 34-year-old Grammy nominated artist said on the program.

“I just felt like I was watching the song take flight and take on a life of its own,” Sara added about her new hit “Brave”. “And it was becoming something bigger than it had even intended to be. And that’s always, oh my gosh, what amazing hope for something you create.”

Sara also weighed in on the controversy surrounding how Katy Perry‘s “Roar” sounded similar to “Brave”.

“I mean I can’t say that I think that they don’t sound similar,” Sara said. “I’ve known Katy a really long time and we’re friends. [It's] only really good for my song. So, thank you, Katy Perry for that.”

After the interview aired, her Album of the Year Grammy nominated hit The Blessed Unrest moved to number three on the iTunes Charts. Congrats, Sara!
