Shakira on Working with Rihanna: It Was Utopia!

Shakira on Working with Rihanna: It Was Utopia!

Shakira sexily plays with her hair on the cover of Glamour magazine’s February 2014 issue, on newsstands January 14.

Here’s what the 36-year-old entertainer had to share with the mag:

On working with Rihanna for their upcoming duet: “[W]orking with her was utopia. She’s the sexiest woman on the planet. And at the end of the day, we’re both just basically Caribbean girls. The chemistry was so good and so real. She taught me dance moves. She was a sweet teacher.”

On working with men in the industry: “Dealing with boys at work and being the only girl can be challenging. I have my insecurities, but I’ve learned I have to be a good sport. I have to be able to take certain jokes and not take them personally. There are jokes made almost every second of the day. I had to develop a tough hide. You know, the music industry is dominated by guys. I work with men 98 percent of the time”producers, arrangers, musicians, engineers.”

On her vision for her life: “I feel like I’m not on earth just to shake it and shake it endlessly, you know?”

FYI: Shakira is wearing an Alexandre Vauthier dress on the cover.

Omg I also work in a field where over 95% are men. Men and their pathetic male ego problems can be exhausting, their jokes are most of the time aint even funny.

out of all crossover Latin singers, she’s the most famous in the USA. I think the number one reason is because of her looks and her style of dancing cause she never had a pleasant singing voice, there’s many female Latin singers that can blow her out of the water and she knows that herself, unfortunately the U.S. would never know that. Latin singers have amazing voices but I wouldn’t put her up there with the greats.

@nina. You think you know what your talking about but Shakira has a great voice. Your insane.

and one more to the list of people who compliment rihanna for her work routines and personality, and these are people who get to meet her… and there are still hate comments to this woman from the readers and haters who doesn’t meet her and still get to comment her…

In latin countries they choose singers for their voice not for their looks or for having sex with producers. It’s sad to know they like to see ugly looking people singing when a good physical appearance gives people hope to be like them and improve their traits.

  • Mandy

Yeah Rihanna & Shakira <3 Cant wait :)

Shakira has always been so sweet. I think she such a beautiful spirit. I can’t not wait to hear this duo. I’m sure it’s one of those songs you either hate or love. I’m stoked !

Shakira is a multilingual singer, songwriter, producer, instrumentalist, and dancer with a genius IQ of 140. She landed a record deal at age 13 and released her first album at 14 featuring music she had written herself. She’s 36 now and has written over 100 songs and has won multiple Grammy awards and songwriting awards.

She’s the #1 crossover Latin artist because she had the talent, determination, and brains to be successful. English is her 3rd language. Most crossover artists often fail because they have weak music and most of them simply hire other people to translate their old songs. Shakira learned the language herself and wrote her own music and lyrics. She didn’t rehash old material but instead attempted an English language career full-on. You don’t see that because you only look at things from the surface (music videos and pictures).

There may be better “singers” in Latin America, but a voice alone does not make good music. Shakira is a full package. She’s an actual musician, even if she can be pretty and dance at the same time.

@OMG: Why hate? Shakira was not merely as spiteful as you.
