Beyonce Writes Essay on Gender Equality - Read It Here!

Beyonce has spoken out debunking the idea that there is gender equality in a new short essay for the annual Shriver Report.

“We need to stop buying into the myth about gender equality. It isn’t a reality yet. Today, women make up half of the U.S. workforce, but the average working woman earns only 77 percent of what the average working man makes,” the 32-year-old singer wrote. “But unless women and men both say this is unacceptable, things will not change. Men have to demand that their wives, daughters, mothers, and sisters earn more—commensurate with their qualifications and not their gender. Equality will be achieved when men and women are granted equal pay and equal respect.”

“Humanity requires both men and women, and we are equally important and need one another. So why are we viewed as less than equal?” Beyonce added. “These old attitudes are drilled into us from the very beginning. We have to teach our boys the rules of equality and respect, so that as they grow up, gender equality becomes a natural way of life. And we have to teach our girls that they can reach as high as humanly possible.

“We have a lot of work to do, but we can get there if we work together. Women are more than 50 percent of the population and more than 50 percent of voters. We must demand that we all receive 100 percent of the opportunities,” she concluded.

When you stop strutting and gyrating on the floor like a high class stripper for dollars then come back and talk to us about equality for real women.

Also, we know you didn’t write anything. Your ghost writer did.

  • wendicity

She didn’t write this, someone else did. I guess they are feverishly trying to make a person who didn’t finish school seem intelligent, but they can’t fool those that are college graduates of classes 2011 and before…major FAIL!

  • sillyme

I’m so tired of hearing about the salary thing. Women make less because they tend to take part-time jobs (while raising their children). Even in the Obama White House, women are paid less and that’s the reason that the Administration gave. If you compare job for job, women make the same or even more than men. Unfortunately, hanging out with the Obamas has turned BeyoncĂ© into just another hack for the Democratic party. Sad.

But, clearly, they’re getting ready for the 2016 presidential campaign. In 2008 and 2012, they used race to divide us so we’d elect a black president. Next, they will use gender to divide us even more so we’ll elect a female president and, if you don’t vote for Hilary, well, you’re just sexist, just like you were racist if you didn’t vote for Obama. Sad what this country has become. Sad what the Democratic party has become. I’ve been a Democrat all my life, but it’s just sad to watch what’s happened to the party.

And people wonder why I don’t listen to her music. Yes there are imperfections with gender equality but it is not a myth its a reality.Women are now able to vote, drive, own, sell or buy proprety & business, we can control our own money and property, we can receive our inheritence free from patriachal norms.Woman are more empowered today than they were 50+ years ago.Sexism promotes gender abuse directed towards woman and children.Beyonce must go back to singing bublegum rubbish and leave us everyday youg woman to deal with gender discrimination issues

    @wendicity: truth

Still smoking the Cool Aid I see…

  • HoodRat

First, Beyoncé cannot write. I heard her speak many times on TV, and she sounds like a hood rat.
Second, once women start dedicating their time to work 100%, they will get 100% of pay. Buying diapers on Amazon for your kids, isn’t work.

  • True

Oh dear. A high school dropout. Please!

And this is the reason why there is Black Feminism and White Feminism just go to gossip sites, and politics sites you just have to read the comments that is all.

  • miapocca

but beyonce is not educated and cannot speak english. so who was paid to write this and then rewarded to dissappear

  • Olivia

Beyonce, if you wanted to be upfront about getting paid in all fairnes, why are you still claiming to be 32? If you want to hide your age, doesnt that have something to do with misrepresenting yourself so that your pay gets inflated? Clearly, you are not a real enough person to speak to all women who want upfront and relatable role-models.
Quit hiding stupid stuff if you want to get taken seriously

  • Red

Her essay??? She can barely speak intelligently. Someone else wrote that!

  • Amber

Stupid Hallmark card politics! Beyonce can’t read or write so to whoever wrote this nonsense: you’re dumb. If idiots like Beyonce want to be respected they should stop selling sex for a living.

  • redwine11

Well don’t we have a group on snobs on here. I like BeyoncĂ© and I still agree with the message. Ive seen for myself the the inequality.

  • Viola

LOL, she is dumb as a box of rocks. I doubt she has given more than 3 thoughts on gender equality in her trashy bootylicious life.

  • qwerty

@sillyme that’s 77% of what a man makes for THE SAME work. As in,for an hour/day/month of the same work and not random men’s vs women’s salaries compared to each other

  • EarthThePlanet

@Olivia: Right, she’s been 32 for the past 4 years here on JustJared ROFL

  • HI

    ahe didn’t write this
this woman couldn’t string 3 words together
i bet she can’t even read

  • Oh Yeah!!!

    Beyonce is the Queen!

  • Ava

I’m sorry but she didn’t write this. If you compare this with the “mrs. obama” letter, the two don’t add up. I’m sure she hired someone to write it after Wendy Williams called her out on having a 5th grade education. Great intent but I think gender equality happens when you don’t need to preach and prove, “hey! I’m a woman! I can do great things!” Look at Malaala…she’s one of the bravest females (heroic and inspiring) I know. She doesn’t go around saying, “I’m a female. Respect me.” She just does through her words and the causes she fights for. She’s so passionate about women being educated and THERE is strength right there, Beyonce. You don’t tell fathers and sons just let women be equal. LIVE IT

  • Ms S

I’m getting truly tired of the “essays” on gender equality that artists like Beyonce put out there. I agree, from what’s been published by her in the past, this is definitely not written by her. Her grammar is laughable. However, until she is a woman in the real world making the money we real women make, she has no business putting this out. Walk in my shoes, worry about how to pay bills like me, or working the hours I do, going home and taking care of my family, putting dinner on the table, then she can speak. Until then, to the left to the left!!!!

  • Susan

Does she know her ABCs? Because she is as illiterate as they come!

  • Jessie

Anyone who believes Beyonce wrote this, hold up your hand. Thought not! She might hold those sentiments, but she is not capable of writing that well. She should use some of those millions to hire someone to teach her how to speak and write. It’s not like she’s incapable of learning, she’s just too proud and too lazy. Why should she better herself when she’s making millions, that’s probably her take on things.
It’s all right when you’re just around your homies, but if you’re a public person and present ideas to the public at large, you need to own it by making the best presentation that you can. There are speech writers for people in all fields, but there are some things that you can and SHOULD tackle on your own. She probably didn’t even do the research herself.
