Ariana Grande: My Real Hair Looks Absolutely Ratchet

Ariana Grande shows her PETA support while wearing the organization’s tank top at a recording studio on Wednesday (January 22) in Los Angeles.

The 20-year-old entertainer recently took to Instagram to set the record straight about her hair extensions since people are giving her “such a hard time about it.”

“I had to bleach my hair and dye it red every other week for the first four years of playing Cat,” she wrote about her shows Victorious and Sam & Cat. “I wear extensions but I wear it in a ponytail because my actually hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down.”

“So as annoying as it is for y’all to have to look at the same hairstyle all the time, it’s all that works for now (and I’m comfortable for the first time in years),” Ariana added. “And trust me, it’s even more difficult for me to have to wait forever for my natural hair to grow back and to have to wear more fake hair than every drag queen on earth combined. So PLEASE gimme a break about the hair (or just don’t look at me lol). IT’S JUST HAIR AFTER ALL.”

@Dee: OMG! Good point!

Ariana-Hot. Peta-not so much

Hmm… I understand that actresses and models are prone to damaged hair because of all the styling and dying they do to it. However, wearing extensions all the time also damages your hair.

i have to admit… i was one of the people questioning that horrible WEAVE (she is too petite for THAT much hair!), but i like how candid and real she was in her explanation. do what you want to feel good about yourself!

Why couldn’t she have just worn a wig for Victorious and Sam & Cat instead of bleaching and dyeing her own hair for four years?!

# 9

Actresses and entertainers wear wigs and weaves to protect their hair from the daily manipulation of their hair on tv/film sets and video shoots. She got bad advice I guess on her show. How could a Hollywood on set professional hairstylist actually agree to all that bleaching? they need their license revoked!

She’s so pretty and talented. I hope she creates her own lane to go on and not follow her peers

cheeseburger truck @ 01/23/2014 at 9:44 pm

excuse me you have money FIX IT!

Gorgeous Italian princess.

Poor Ari. :(

@TC: I think they didn’t know the show would be on for that long. I also think they wanted it to be easier to manage because wigs are hard to style

@Amy: No it doesn’t. Actually wearing extensions helps give your hair a chance to heal because you’re not doing anymore damage to it with chemicals or heat or tight braids pulling at your hair line. If you’re doing any of this with extensions, than they’re not in for protective purposes. But some poeple use them as a protective style.

@cheeseburger truck: You can’t just magically make your hair better. Even money can’t fix that. The only thing she can do is what she’s doing now, which is giving her hair the time it needs to get better. That’s life, having money doesn’t change that.
