Cory Monteith's Name Misspelled for Grammys In Memoriam

While the In Memoriam segment at awards shows is meant to be a moment to reflect and remember the stars we have lost in the past year, many fans were upset to see that Cory Monteith‘s name was misspelled during the 2014 Grammy Awards tribute last night.

The late Glee actor’s last name was spelled “Montieth” during the tribute, switching the placement of the “e” and the “i” in his name.

No other names were misspelled during the tribute and generally speaking, spelling mistakes don’t usually happen during these tribute segments.

FYI: Cory was nominated for three Grammys for his work on Glee – Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media in both 2011 and 2012, as well as Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for “Don’t Stop Believin’ (Regionals Version)” in 2011.

WERE YOU SURPRISED to see Cory Monteith’s name spelled wrong?

I’m more surprised they chose to include him.

# 2

@Isabel: Definitely!

# 3

@Isabel Agreed. Junkie shouldn’t have been included.

# 4

You guys are full of it.

# 5

Jesus people, he was more than a junkie. And junkies aren’t lesser people, anyway. Grow some compassion.

Cory Montooth

@Kristen: so Hendricks, Kurt Corban, ect. shouldn’t have ever been included either?? I beg to differ. Just because you have an addicted doesn’t mean you should be left out. He was still a great singer.

# 8

..still think Lea had him knocked off for publicity

# 9

Now Lea will take this for publicity for people to feel sorry for her again.. MARK MY WORDS

@Molly: you compared 2 greatest rock legend, that change the entire rock music to a 30 years old guy that play a high school student on television show. you even spelled Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain wrong. i want to insult you really bad, but i’m being nice here because Daft Punk won album of the year. Daft Punk also change the music industry not just in America but entire world.

@Living in a box: And? It doesn’t change the fact that both were drug addicts. This person was replying to the troll that was shaming addicts, regardless of their contribution in the music industry. And Glee did have a big impact in the music industry, you liking or not. Deal with it.

@Living in a box:
Daft Punk. Gurl bye. Their album is so generic. And Grammys are crap in general.

@Ana: You had me until you said that Glee changed music industry. They did nothing for music, the only thing they did was sing mediocre versions of songs on tv. That, in my opinion, is not changing music indutry.

My surprise had nothing to do with not wanting him included because of the way he died. A slew of talented musicians have died of overdoses. I was more shocked that the Grammys claimed him as one of its own since he’s never recorded an album (that aren’t Glee compilation albums), worked as a producer, etc.

Why would they NOT include him? He was a popular actor on a popular show! Some of you people… I swear!

It doesn’t matter how he died. He messed up and it cost him his life. He should be included in the Grammy’s tribute, because he touched lives and made a difference. It doesn’t matter if he was just on a high school T.V.. show or not. His death was a great loss to the T.V. show and to this world. He had a family too, so quit being so disrespectful. Lea Michele is going through this the most, none of you so cut her some slack. She isn’t just trying to grab attention from the media. I’m sure that dropping all of her fame and fortune for the chance to get Cory back, she would do it in a split second. She loved Cory so much. They should have spelled his name right. It is their fault. So quit hating, if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all.
