I agree with Sara Bareilles. Drugs are not harmless. Drugs cannot be controlled, once you’re hooked they control you. Drugs are poison. Just poison.

Why didn’t any of them do something to help him when he was alive? He had a publicly known addiction for over 20 years. Get his celeb friends together, grab him, throw him in a van, take him to rehab for several months for cold turkey, pay for it collectively. These celebrities are priceless. Losers and bogus personalities all. They don’t care worth a dime. From River Phoenix to Whitney Huston and before and since. All blah-blah-blah-blah. No action, no muscle, no brains, no care.

I’m very upset about this. Hoffman was a really good actor; I don’t understand how something like this could have happened. He should have had a hot girlfriend and other people watching out for him. He must have had plenty of money and his career could have lasted for another of couple of decades. His lifespan should have lasted until at least the middle of the 21st century. I don’t understand how this could have happened.

@Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah: it is definitely not that easy… grow up. Many people did try and help him. BLAME IS NOT NEEDED AT THIS TIME!!!!

YOUR OBLIVION @ 02/03/2014 at 5:00 am

@please.: Oh, please, freak. You’re the one who needs to grow up, you idiot. Blah-blah-blah-blah is right, obviously. What are you? The agent of these losers who get them hooked on the drugs? Go find a home far away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stupid choice, tragic result. When will Hollywood wake the F up….selfish , leaves three young children behind. No sympathy. Drugs kill. You cocaine parties, excessive drinking….Winehouse, Bonham, Jackson, Houston. etc etc…ridiculous!

I met Mr. Hoffman in 1995 right before “Twister” came out. I provided personal security for celebrity guest whom were attending a ‘Director’s Guild’ event. Not know yet, he sat alone and had dinner in the restaurant across from the event. As I passed his table to be seated, I recognized he was at the event, so out of curiosity I asked who he was. After introductions he asked if I would like to join him. About an hour or so of talking about our personal lives, the entertainment industry and aspirations we bid each other goodbye. He was one of the most humble persons I’ve met. My last words as we parted were, “Hey good luck on your career; remember never lose YOU – these people (the industry) are ruthless. Don’t worry I got a feeling you’re going to make it!” He was something special – as a human and a actor. I’ve never forgot our chance meeting. God Bless.

His films inspired us to be our best; maybe not from the role he portrayed; but from the tenacity to which he portrayed it. Mother Earth will miss his loyalty!
