Sochi Olympics 2014 Opening Ceremony - See Picture Highlights!

The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics are underway, and the opening ceremony took place earlier in the day on Friday (February 7) at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi, Russia.

Viewers who are eager to see the Opening Ceremony air on television – you’re in luck! You can catch the ceremony on NBC at 7:30 pm EST tonight.

For those who can’t wait – here are some highlight pictures, including teams from around the world entering the stadium, a fireworks show, and an unfortunate incident where 5 illuminated snowflakes were supposed to turn into the 5 Olympic rings, but sadly, one malfunctioned and only four rings lit.

Princess Charlene and Prince Albert of Monaco were also in attendance!

Just add the 4 out of 5 rings to the disaster that is the 2014 Winter Olympics. My favorite part of this whole thing is that Russia/Sochi have had 7 years and $50 BILLION dollars to prepare for this thing and nothing is finished. The water is dangerous. Places have no roofs, lobbies, doors, safe fire doors, Internet, heat, etc… There is a horrific case of hacking going on there now. They forced families out of their homes and into these stupid new apartments that don’t take animals, so people just let go of their pets on the street and now the Russian government is shooting all the dogs. The terrorist attacks prior, the fact that they can’t find some of the prominent terrorists that are wanted, the black widows, that one female terrorist got through security. Toothpaste bombs. Civil unrest with Ukraine. A plane from the Ukraine to Sochi had to be diverted to Turkey after a bomb threat was made. I mean the list just goes on.

My only wish is that NO terrorist attack happens. My fear is that with all the lagging in every thing regarding this Olympics, are they up to date on their security. Are they smart? Are they ready? etc…

    breezedash Says:

haha, all your negative comments are so funny, really. the ceremony was great, so sorry, you’re wrong. you said something about our russian government, but THE FACT is that you believe ONLY what your CNN and FOX say. and it’s sad. Be open-minded. I’m from Russia, and despite the fact that our government doesn’t like your government, I have a high opinion of USA, I respect its history, people and so on. You criticize our Olympics because of politics, but you forgot about all those who have worked hard on this, and those people ARE NOT government, they are just workers who wanted to make everything for EVERYONE perfect. So don’t criticize or hate or stereotype, we are all people

The opening ceremony was absolutely beautiful! All athletes say that they are impressed by the high standards in Sochi. Those who believe some fake pictures on the Internet seems like living in the stone age. Hey guys, have you heard about Photoshop? :) Anyway, I am enjoying the games, everything is beautiful! And those who are not watching, just robbing themselves from a great show and entertainment!
