Skier Bode Miller Brought to Tears Over Dead Brother in NBC Interview with Christin Cooper (Video)

Bode Miller sheds a tear after being provoked into remembering his late brother Chelone during an interview following his win at the Alpine Skiing Men’s Super-G competition on day 9 of the 2014 Winter Olympics on Sunday (February 16) in Sochi, Russia.

The 36-year-old Olympic athlete, who won the Bronze medal, was interviewed by NBC’s Christin Cooper following his win and he broke down in tears while remembering his brother, who died last year after suffering a seizure.

“With my brother passing away, I really wanted to come back here and race the way he sends it. So this was a little different,” Bode said. When asked if the race was for him, he responded with “I mean, I don’t know it’s really for him. But I wanted to come here and uh — I don’t know, I guess make myself proud.”

The reporter has been receiving a ton of criticism on social media for badgering Bode into answering questions about his brother when he clearly was having an emotional moment.

We send our congratulations out to Bode for his big win!

The reporter treated him as if he was a witness in a murder trial.

As someone who lost their dad a year ago…not a swift question to ask when she could obviously tell he was getting upset, and she kept provoking him. Dumb bi#$

What an idiot reporter.

I agree that the reporter went way too far. She asked basically the same question over and over again.

But what a great medal for him. It was a sweet moment of the Olympics.

My last pay check was $9500 working 12 hours a week online. My sisters friend has been averaging 15k for months now and she works about 20 hours a week. I can’t believe how easy it was once I tried it out. This is what I do……………http://x.co/3uG4D

Sad what the reporter did. It was uncalled for.

Also way to not include the fact that he wasn’t the only skiier who got the bronze. He tied – so you should have included that! It makes it seem like their were only 3 medal winners when there in fact were 4 because Bode tied with a Canadian.

Wait till the Dumb C’s father or mother dies then shove a microphone in her face & ask how the corpse looked.

I watched this also, and I felt so bad for Bode. She made me even feel uncomfortable. She just kept pushing and pushing. I don’t understand those reporters at times. Is it their goal to make people “break”….do they get a bonus if they succeed? Shame on her!!! It’s his business how he feels and not the worlds!!!

For shame! In this day and age it’s like anyone can become a reporter… Just out there trying to get the BIG scoop at anyone’s expense!!! A real reporter would know what to ask an when! Listening to her, she just kept pressing as if the guy’s brother’s death was more important than his accomplishments. PLEASE DO AWAY WITH THE PAPARAZZI REPORTERS AND THEIR FEW SECONDS OF FAME AND BRING BACK THE REAL REPORTERS… LOOK AT THE TODAY SHOW (NOT TO CALL ANY NAMES) BUT THEY GOT RID OF THE GREAT LADY WHO HAD BEEN REPORTING FOR YEARS AND REPLACED HER WITH A BIMBO WHO ASKS SEVERAL QUESTIONS IN A SHORT TIME PERIOD AS TO HIDE THE FACT THAT SHE CAN’T DO PROPER RESEARCH!!!

This is typical tasteless NBC journalism. We have come to expect trashy tactics from NBC when it targets conservatives, or anyone who refuses to drink the liberal cool-aide, but to exploit Bode in his time of grief is an all-time low for NBC. This pathetic excuse for an interview is the latest in a long line of blunders and unprofessional by NBC staff. Just Google “NBC apologizes” and marvel how many times the network has continually apologizes for BS its staff has committed over the last few years. How many apologies does a network have to make before its leadership is ousted? Steve Burke’s departure is long over due for so many reasons beyond his inability to hold his people accountable for unprofessionalism. Wake up COMCAST — your boy Burke sucks b$lls!!

I N S E N S I T I V E and C O L D.

I lost my dad 5 years ago and get teared up over the smallest things still. She was insensitive and ignorant and obviously has not lost a close family member. She should be ashamed of herself. That was completely unnecessary after the FIRST time she asked….idiot

Why did NBC do this? See the movie NETWORK 1976.

Bode is a class act, not my first impression, for defending her. Someone needs to take Christin’s microphone and shove it up her lower body *******. Asking once was enough, no need to badger.

Cooper totally pushed it too far. Bode obviously fighting tears to speak; Cooper was aware of his emotions and definitely went for the “kill”. She should be ashamed of her actions. Unprofessional at the very least.
