Julianne Hough Wanted to Stay Single for 1 Year After Ryan Seacret Split

Julianne Hough shows off her fabulous figure on the cover of Self magazine’s March 2014 issue.

Here’s what the 25-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On wanting to stay single after splitting from Ryan Seacrest: “My goal has been to be single for an entire year. There have been moments where I’m like ‘This sucks!’ But my dad used to say to me, ‘When you feel happy with who you are, you won’t need anybody to fill a void.’”

On obsessively watching her weight during Footloose: “When I was doing Footloose [in 2010], I counted calories and weighed myself obsessively. I didn’t hang out with the cast because I was like, ‘Then I’m going to eat and drink.’ I missed out on life because I was so focused on and self-conscious of my body. Now I say ‘Everything in moderation’…I’d rather have memories, even with an extra couple pounds.”

On her brother Derek Hough: “He’ll text me out of the blue and say ‘Hey, I just wanted to remind you that you’re a goddess and you’re amazing and you have the most wonderful day and I love you.’ He inspires me to do the same for my girlfriends. It really makes a difference.”
