Oprah Winfrey & Forest Whitaker - NAACP Image Awards 2014

Oprah Winfrey hits the red carpet at the 2014 NAACP Image Awards held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Saturday evening (February 22) in Pasadena, Calif.

The 60-year-old actress and talk show queen was joined by her Lee Daniels’ The Butler co-stars Forest Whitaker (with wife Keisha), Terrence Howard (with wife Miranda), David Oyelowo, and Elijah Kelley.

During the show, David won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture and Forest was presented the prestigious Chairman’s Award.

Oprah was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture and for Outstanding Talk Series, but unfortunately didn’t win either award. We’re sure she doesn’t mind!

FYI: David wearing a Ted Baker London suit.

I was disappointed that the Butler didn’t win the best film at the NAACP awards. I saw the movie and I thought it was excellent hands down. I could relate to the past dates and times and it had a powerful ending with what’s happening today. I didn’t see 12 years a slave, after seeing roots that was enough for me, who wants to keep being reminded of the slavery era, the snip of 12 years of slavery shown during the NAACP awards, about how the slave girl smelled so bad because the master wouldn’t give her soap, that was enough for me I wouldn’t go to see that movie if were free at the theater and buttered popcorn was on the house, hell black folks invented soap! Today’s real slavery is in the crack house and the penitentiary, movie producers need to make a movie about modern day slavery. The stage is set right and acted out right down there in the sunshine state of Florida, they still lynching blacks today, Just keepin it real yawl
