Jennifer Hudson: Singing is What I Love, I Can't Help Myself!

Jennifer Hudson is oh-so-sexy in this brand new feature for the latest V magazine issue, photographed by famed photographer Terry Richardson.

Here’s what the 32-year-old entertainer had to share with the mag:

On making people feel instantly comfortable: “It’s funny, but I get that a lot. I feel like people don’t get to see the real me, but then they’ll say, ‘I feel like we’re best friends!’…It’s so weird to me. It’s like once you know me you’ve been Jenniferized. I want to Jenniferize everyone!”

On being an artist: “Earlier in my career I was just a soloist singing other people’s songs. Now I really want to be an artist. I want to lift the people up, have fun, create a moment. I have my own visions that I want to bring to life.”

On performing for drag queens: “I used to go to gay clubs when I was a kid. We were 16 or 17 and my best friend would pretend to be my manager. He’d have business cards made up and he’d negotiate for me to sing for $25 a song. I’d have these amazing drag queens style me up and down, honey. They would be up there lip-synching and then I’d get up and sing for real – some Whitney Houston or some old-school Shirley Murdock – and I would make all the money. That was like my training, basically.”

On her love of singing: “This is what I love. I just can’t help myself.”
