Lady Gaga Denied Permit to Perform in Giant Doritos Vending Machine at SXSW

Lady Gaga steps out of a studio with her flowing white blonde hair and sky high heeled-shoes on Wednesday evening (February 26) in Hollywood.

The 27-year-old superstar entertainer was just denied a permit to perform in a giant Doritos vending machine at SXSW coming up next month.

Lady Gaga wanted to perform at the Doritos Stage, which is an outdoor venue constructed in the parking lot of an Italian restaurant and made to look like a gigantic Doritos vending machine.

“Our conclusion was based primarily on public safety concerns,” Don Pitts, manager of the City of Austin Music & Entertainment division, said to Austin 360. “We look at the size and capacity of the location covered by the permit being sought and how it fits with the anticipated attendance, based on event capacity and promotion. At the end of the day, it’s a parking lot.”

For the past two years, the giant vending machine has resided in the parking lot of Carmelo’s Italian Restaurant and has hosted acts such as L.L. Cool J, Ice Cube and Public Enemy.
