Oscars Ratings Rise to 10 Year High in Viewership for 2014!

Congratulations to Ellen DeGeneres and the team behind the 2014 Academy Awards – it reached a ten year high in viewership!

It is estimated that 43 million people tuned in last night to watch Ellen host for the second time, up from the 40.3 million who watched last year with host Seth MacFarlane, according to THR.

This is the highest amount of viewers for an Oscars broadcast since 2004 when The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King swept the awards show.

We can’t wait to find out who is going to be hosting next year, as well as what the major films in contention are going to be. Only 52 more weeks to go!

DID YOU WATCH Ellen DeGeneres host the 2014 Oscars?

Ellen and the Oscars go together like peanut butter in jelly–the ideal match! I hope she stays involved with it for years to come.

She was silly and boring. I much prefer Seth McFarlene…and yeah viewer ship was high…look at the nomination the race with between alot of heavy hitting directors, the tight race between Jennifer and Lupita…it had a lot of foreign nominees that had huge hits…

I was waiting for some song and dance numbers, but all I saw was a pizza fest. I really like Seth MacFarlane last year too, and I was expecting more of the same I guess. Whats an award show without Jennifer Lawrence though?

Eveyrone wanted to see Lupita and whether or not she one.

I do like Ellen but her performance was wack.

Why such a big deal about pizza at this years Oscars? If the program is so long and the ladies have to be so famished to fit into their gowns, why not seat them at a table with food? Why not have waiters walking the isles handing out finger food? Oh well. I was waiting for Ellen to get everyone up and out of their seats for one of her dance numbers like she does on her daytime show, but Pharrell was the only one that did that.

It was sooooooo BORING. Thankfully Walking Dead was on.

I watched for the real talent not for Ellen, and I don’t think anyone watched only because of her

Ellen did a good job. I haven’t watched most award shows for years now, because when the economy went bad, you could tell that things were becoming lax. Most award shows lost the feeling that it was a special event. Last night, though Ellen threw a few odd punches — like serving pizza, there was an aura of class that returned.

Ellen did better the first time, the second time I felt like she was just winging it. I watched Walking Dead too, but like the Oscars, I found that episode slow as well.

the ratings are high because Ellen is the best! she is so great. love you Ellen!

Ellen was very funny. Much better then past host. She’ll be back.

She tried her best, but she was boring and unfunny most of the time.
