Shailene Woodley: Jennifer Lawrence Convinced Me to Do 'Divergent'

Shailene Woodley luxuriously lounges on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter‘s latest issue.

Here’s what the 22-year-old Divergent star had to share with the mag:

On Jennifer Lawrence convincing her of the merits of franchise films: “[I talked with Jennifer. She] said: ‘You must do it. You will not regret it for a second. Yes, there are some hard things, but there are so many beautiful things that will come from an opportunity like this.’”

On not wearing diamonds: “It’s my way of just recognizing spirit [her Navajo pendent] — as hippie as that may sound — in an industry where sometimes materialism is the main focus, it’s kind of my way of grounding and remembering what’s important to me.”

On dressing for red carpets: “I realized this garment is going to be used over and over and over again. If I was to show up wearing my five-toe shoes, my Melodia organic leggings and some hippie top, no one is going to take me seriously, and I probably would not be doing this interview right now for The Hollywood Reporter. When I go on a red carpet, I’m Shailene, but I’m also Shailene representing a movie. I’m there for my boss, for my employer, so part of that comes with wearing the uniform.”

I don’t know who she is, but I really respect the fact that she realizes she has an obligation to represent the movie and those who invested in it. It’s refreshing to see an actress talk about something other than her beauty routine or how great she is, or what an “artist” she is.

Cool gal and too good for Hollyweird. I have faith she’ll keep being herself.

Using Jennifer Lawrence’s name and The Hunger Games to promote a sure flop?

No.3; Why so serious? The above magazine cover is just a wide angle lens joke. Nothing more, nothing less.

No.2; There is a place in life for the weird looking wide angle lens if one knows how to use it; like in A Touch Of Evil, or even Citizen Kane. For example, if you are shooting a film on a sailboat this a bit rocky, the wide angle lens will minimize and play down the effect. “There are shadows in life baby.” [Boogie Nights]

She is just so likeable she is very mature and sounds like an amazing young girl

She’s so beautiful and a natural actor. I do think she was told to lose weight for this film though, as she looks much thinner

oh come on does she really need some on to convince her to do a movie that can became a big franchise im sure she is dying for be so famous like jennifer like every young girl in hollywood its just she dont wanna look so desperate

Love what she said about dressing for red carpets. because alot of these celebrities complain, and its like…shut up?? u get to wear free stuff…?

I guess that was before J. Law started whining about being over worked and O. Russel’s ‘slavery’ comment.

Cute, Kinda silly since she lost weight after filming was done.
