Adam Lambert & Queen Announce North American Summer Tour!

Adam Lambert and Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor) attend their press conference to announce a North American Tour at Madison Square Garden on Thursday (March 6) in New York City.

The 32-year-old entertainer has joined Queen on stage many times in the past, but this is the first official tour for the singers.

The 19-date North American tour will begin on June 19 at Chicago’s United Center and will wrap up on July 20 at Washington D.C.’s Merriweather Post Pavilion.

“I’m completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon,” Adam said in a statement. “The thought of sharing the stage for a full set in North America is so beautifully surreal. I’m honored to be able to pay my respects to Freddie’s memory; he’s a personal hero of mine, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know this tour will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band, I feel like magic will be on display.”

    JLM Says:

Adam did four shows with Queen in England and the other Queen fans that weren’t too narrow minded to go, gave the show rave reviews! Adam can rock these songs! Adam loved Freddie and pays homage to him and adds his own flair. I have a feeling Freddie would love him!! The greatness of Queen is honored and shared with a new generation and us old Queen fans love it as well. It is symmetry.

Gahhh these pics of Adam are GLORIOUS! So HOT <3

    Of course Says:

@JLM: How would Freddie not love Adam, Freddie was gay and Adam IS gay. They can relate of course

Adam Lambert is deforming Queen songs.

There was only one Freddie and He is irreplaceable!
I find it disgusting that Brian and Roger dare to tour as Queen since 50% of the band is missing.
At least John has some respect for their legacy.
It looks like Brian&Roger love money so much that they’ve stopped arguing. Why couldn’t they be friendly with each other while Freddie was alive?
I like Adam, but I never liked the idea of him as a Queen frontman.

No one is forcing you to go. Adam is doing a great job, and this is why he was asked. I’m definitely going.

    Reality Check Says:

Queen is no longer relevant. With a “reality tv” dude as their lead singer, even less so. That is the truth.

That Adam… Well, that is a handsome young man right there. Well-groomed. Nice face. Especially beautiful eyes!

    To raisedbyFreddie
Unless you have personally copyrighted Queen’s music I don’t think you have a dog in this fight. Music should be timeless and to think a band can’t continue to perform its music is ridiculous –there are people who want to hear Queen’s music and I am one of many. Stay home and listen to their recordings with Freddie. That is your right. But don’t begrudge others. That is not what music is about.

    kel Says:

@raisedbyFreddie: wow self entitled people like you are just too much, really? how dare they tour? should they have checked with you? I found Queen because of Adam and love their music and alot of my friends have found Queen and their music is brought to a new generation. I am glad I am of this generation and not yours if most are like you.You do not own them or their music and you do not know their motivation for doing this. You think it’s money yet you have no clue at all. You must be one of those old crumudgeons who lives in the past cause what you say really reflects on who you are.

    Rachel Says:

@kel: Brilliantly said. And the idea that Brian and Roger are doing this for money is laughable- and insulting.

    @Reality Check:

YOUR Truth is not held as Truth by millions of others, including original Queen fans, Lambert fans, and music critics. Still, you are more than entitled to stay home with your own Truth. Enjoy yourself. The rest of us sure are!

    Kai Says:

Queen is a legendary rock band. don’t understand their logic cause this brings their legendary status down. This is building up Lambert cause he can’t do it on his own. most people don’t know who he is. If I were a legend I would never let someone use me. RIP Freddie Mercury.

    kitty Says:

How sad that some people prefer to live only in the past, preferring to keep this incredible music from ever being performed live again by its surviving members. That’s not what great music is all about. Even great music evolves. Even the great classical composers have their music performed in different ways with different interpretations, long after they’ve died. Music is a living thing. Brian and Roger don’t need the money. Deacon’s life is his own choice. This music should live on in front of live audiences, because it’s great music. Adam has the talent and ability to deliver. Roger and Brian believe in him because they’re worked with him. His talent is superb. I think some naysayers simply don’t want to admit that Adam could possibly be good. It hurts their sense of loyalty to Freddie or something. Well, Freddie is gone. Adam is not trying to copy him. There is respect all around. Brian and Roger still have the fire, the desire and the talent. Why not share it? They have said that Adam’s voice is one in a BILLION. I think that’s a good recommendation. I’ve heard every show they’ve done together. Incredible! Experiencing Queen live is a valuable gift. Savor it.

I wish they were coming to an area near me!

    LAH Says:

@Kai: How is Adam using Queen and Freddie Mercury? Brian May and Roger Taylor came to Adam and asked him to perform with them not the other way around. I think they know more about Freddie, Queen’s music and their legacy than anyone. They also know Adam and his talent. Adam is a great singer and interpreter of music. If you haven’t heard them perform together in person you should’t judge. Also, did you know that Freddie called music “disposable”.

    TriciaDevine Says:

    @raisedbyFreddie:
John is doing what John wants to do. Why shouldn’t Roger and Brian?

  19. 19
    Mal Says:

Geez, I had no idea some of these Queen “fans” had copyrighted Queen’s music themselves. Therefore they feel entitled to tell Brian and Roger what they can and cannot do with THEIR music. And these “fans” also feel they can tell Queen that they cannot decide on a frontman of their own choosing–one whom Brian and Roger keep saying Freddie would approve of. So may I suggest– be angry, stay home, listen to your vintage records–but do not begrudge a new generation of fans who are open minded enough to want to hear this timeless music performed live by an incredible singer, I am looking forward to attending one of the concerts on the tour as many other people are.

    JustChill'n Says:

How exciting! Of course no one can replace Freddie, but Queen is Brian’s and Roger’s legacy too. I’m glad they’re getting an opportunity to get out there and share that legacy with all generations. It’s a crying shame for these 2 men, their talent… their music to stay home tucked away from the rest of the world. Freddie is gone; nobody can bring him back. But Brian and Roger are very much alive and well. We need to appreciate and acknowledge these 2 legends. And, Adam’s voice is the only one out there that can do Freddie’s justice. This is good! I bet Freddie is smiling. Now I’m going to go pull some Queen up on the ipod.

    dots girl Says:

By now it’s apparent that so many folks want to see Queen with Adam that ticket sales went ballistic. I’m glad for the chance to hear the music live and Queen is embodied in these two founding members of the group. No one can or wants to replace Freddie, but Adam vocally is totally on point with the vocals, theatrical delivery and talent. If John doesn’t want to be in the band, respect his reasons and his decision, he still makes money from all Queen does. Neither one of these guys are hurting for money and Adam is working on his third musical offering. What’s not to like??? After those concerts in Kiev, Russia and Poland in 2012, tickets in England were impossible to get and the reviews were glowing. This tour does what Queen and Freddie were unable to do in the US, check out the history of Queen in the US. This totally vindicates Queen, same as they weren’t allowed to perform in Russia with Freddie.
