Andrew Garfield Treats 'Batkid' Miles Scott to Day at Disneyland!

Andrew Garfield spent the day with Batkid Miles Scott at Disneyland on Monday (March 3) to make up for not being able to present together at the 2014 Oscars!

“Due to the nature of a live show, hard decisions sometimes must be made which require the Academy to cut segments due to the logistics of production,” the Academy said in a statement. “Andrew Garfield understood that his segment had to be omitted, and he drove to Disneyland on Monday to spend time with 5-year-old Miles Scott (Batkid) and his family.”

If you don’t know, Miles was crowned Batkid when he was battling Leukemia. The Make-a-Wish foundation helped him become a super hero as part of his wish.

Miles and Andrew were supposed to present together at the Oscars, but their segment was cut before airing.

    Really, they couldn’t have cut anybody else? They decided to cut the segment featuring a kid battling leukemia (or used to battle leukemia?)? Not very nice Academy…

  • Jenna

    THANK YOU JARED FOR POSTING THE TRUTH

    There was another boy Chase Johnson who died the day of the Oscars and Andrew spoke to him hours before he died as well.

    Andrew took the boy to Disney.

    Andrew does not deserved to be disgraced for something he never did in the first place.

  • Melissa

    Finally the truth is out!
    All the tabloids dailymail, usweekly, pagesix and others ruining Andrew’s reputation for something which he never did. Andrew is one of the nicest people in hollywood.
    Just 2 weeks ago he carried bags for a random stranger who was an old lady because he did not want her to do any heavy lifting.
    He played basketball dressed as spidey on set.
    He is the spokesperson for Worldwide Orphans Foundation and travels to different countries to meet orphans.
    People are trashing him on the internet without knowing the truth and its very disappointing.

  • molly

    the dlisted story says Andrew was a real jerk and backed out of the bit. Radar online I think is the one with the original story. Says Andrew didnt like the lines so acted like a brat and wouldnt even go to the oscars. It makes sense since he was at the rehearsal but then didnt show for oscars. Big baby
    Why take the kid to disney ?? trying to make himself feel better? Disney is not the same as getting to be on the oscars.

  • Isabel

    I know Hollywood is incredibly self-serving but to omit Miles and Andrew from the broadcast so some actors can partake in a circle jerk as they watch a compilation of the “best” action movies is disgusting.

  • Melissa

    @molly

    The Academy members themselves said the previous story is bs. they cancelled his bit and another musical number b/c of shortage of time.

    Andrew took the boy to disney the same day as the Oscars.
    Get your facts straight. E news and The Hollywood Reporter are reputable sources that confirmed this.

  • NEVAH

    the truth is Andrew thought it was a shlt dialogue and he threw a tantrum. So the whole thing was facked! But glad he at least went to Disneyland with the poor kid

  • NEVAH

    @Isabel:
    that’s why I think the tantrum story stands. Even if that clip wasn’t good for the show, he could have presented the part Chris Evans presented after being called on the last minute.
    Yeah, temper tantrum indeed!

  • Melissa

    oh yes Andrew is an asshole. This picture proves it :

    http://www.tmz.com/2014/03/06/andrew-garfield-batkid-oscars-academy-awards/

    What an overrated jerk (i’m being sarcastic here)

  • baby

    um i don’t get this, is Andrew a good guy or bad guy in this situation!?!?

  • Jane

    @Nevah

    ok we’ll believe you instead of Miles’ family or the Academy members themselves who said the truth of what happened.

    and he isn’t a jerk. see andrew with miles in that tmz link above.

  • Jane

    @baby

    Andrew is good. He never quit his segment the producers cut it out. Andrew instead took the boy to Disney instead to make up for it. And he spoke to another boy Chase who died of cancer a few hours after Andrew talked to him the day of the Oscars. All of this is lies spread by some dbags.

  • Jane

    THE TRUTH:

    Garfield and Scott did the dress rehearsal Saturday without a hitch — it was a real tearjerker too — but hours later, Garfield was informed via email that the piece didn’t fit with the tone of the show … and therefore had to be cut.

    To make it up to Batkid — who was understandably bummed — we’re told Garfield accompanied him to Disneyland on Monday … and even conducted a mini Oscars ceremony in Scott’s hotel room (tuxes and all).

  • freya

    @molly:

    Because his manager and the producers of his movie made him do this can you imagine the hundreds of millions in dollars they will lost if he continue his royal assholeness? He will never work in this buisness again..

  • Jane

    MORE TRUTH:

    Andrew Garfield’s representative Rupert Fowler released a statement about the situation to HuffPost Celebrity. “In full collaboration with the Academy and the show writer, Andrew prepared a segment for the Oscars to honor Miles Scott as the true hero that he is. As some point overnight on Saturday / Sunday morning, it was decided by those running the show that the segment didn’t work in the ceremony. They decided to pull it — Andrew and Miles were equally upset. The producers arranged for Miles and his family to visit Disneyland on Monday and Andrew drove down to visit them and to bring Miles a personal gift,” Fowler says. “Andrew did the right thing for Batkid and anyone saying otherwise is flat out lying.”

    A nice guy like Andrew does not deserve this

  • Cate

    This makes the event producers look really bad. Just suddenly deciding to cut it at the last moment for yet another montage or something. They really threw Andrew under the bus with this by not admitting they cut the segment because it “didn’t work” in the first place so all kinds of unpleasant conjecture was made up about Garfield instead.

    At least BatKid got to go to Disneyland. I’m sure he and his family enjoyed it far more anyway :D

  • fia

    Andrew is the sweetest! He’s my true hero for so many undescribable reasons. I don’t get why so many people tried to put his name down by making some horrible fake news (I never buy those anyway).
    Bless you Andrew! Bless your heart and pure soul! <3

  • Lisa

    Andrew is so A W E S O M E .

  • Irene

    thank god the truth is out. a good human being like andrew does not deserve backlash for something he never did in the first place. that picture of him with miles on tmz is very heartwarming.

  • Sally Fields

    People Magazine confirming Andrew’s story:
    http://www.peoplestylewatch.com/people/stylewatch/package/article/0,,20768377_20794181,00.html

    That asshole from pagesix can go to hell.
    Andrew is a lovely man.

  • Hancockenstein

    @molly:
    you’re right Disneyland isn’t the same as the Oscars. every kid on the planet would rather go to Disneyland. I find it silly that we as grownups make such a big deal about it, it’s just a dumb ceremony.

  • so ridiculous !

    The problem with trashbloids is the truth is too logical they wouldn’t get any feedback if they don’t add over the top drama to a simple story . I’m sure the kid had more fun at disney than he would at the Oscars . LOL. To be honest how many 5yr old do you know that knows what the Oscars show is all about ? I bet he would be bored to sleep at that event ..LOL. Even as an adult i probably would’ve chosen Disney , at least it’s more fun ! And for pete sake leave Andrew Garfield alone he is a good guy !

  • Don

    @Melissa: Actually E! originally said his reps weren’t returning their calls. Then they repeated what the rep said with a “well then” like hrumph. And the story started off that he took the kid to Disneyland and spent the day with him. Now it’s he drove down to give him a gift. The kids’ parents haven’t said anything much.

  • Dana

    The title isn’t correct. The announcement said the producers paid for the Disneyland trip not Andrew.

  • shannon

    I was about to say i can’t believe hollywood would do this but then i remembered how cold they can be.Andrew is a genuinely nice and kind person and thank god the truth has finally came out.
