Lena Dunham & Allison Williams: An Evening with the Cast of 'Girls'!

Lena Dunham strikes a pose as she hits the red carpet while attending the Television Academy Presents An Evening With Girls held at the Leonard Goldenson Theatre on Thursday (March 13) in Hollywood, Calif.

The 27-year-old actress was joined by her co-stars Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, Jemima Kirke, and Andrew Rannells as they all took part in a Q&A session where they revealed some details about the inner-world of Girls.

During the event, Lena admitted the show’s criticisms make sense to her.

“I think all of them make sense and that you owe it to yourself and your viewers to take those criticisms seriously,” Lena expressed (via THR). “Except the thing about how all our parents are famous.”

FYI: Lena is wearing an Isa Arfen dress and Jimmy Choo shoes. Zosia is wearing Rebecca Minkoff top and pants.

  • Inane

Among the most inane shows on TV. If I wanted to watch a bunch of 20 somethings look at their own navels and do nothing useful all day, I’d watch Girls.

Lena claims she’s a feminist, but this show sets women in Hollywood back by a lot. Yea, Lena is a showrunner now, but she’s a showrunner for a show that basically mirrors their diary entries. How could this get anyone’s respect? People say the writing is good – I actually agree, it is pretty good, Lena is a great writer – but the show’s subjects over and over reinforce this feeling that women are only as good as their romantic hangups and emotion overdoses. Also, the show reeks of nepotism, which makes me doubt that Lena would be even famous if it wasn’t for that. Are women only fit for making ‘women’ shows and films, or are we better than that? Shouldn’t we show that we can make things that are gyncentric? That women AND men want to see? That’s how I feel.

    are not* gyncentric
