Idina Menzel Makes Billboard History with Frozen's 'Let it Go'!

Idina Menzel has made Billboard Hot 100 history as the first Tony Award winner to ever have a song reach the top 10 on the chart!

The 42-year-old actress’ song “Let It Go” from the Oscar-winning film Frozen rose to the number nine slot on the chart dated March 22.

Other Tony Award winners who have charted on the Billboard Hot 100, though not reaching the top ten, include Idina‘s Wicked co-star Kristin Chenoweth with six songs from her appearances on Glee.

If you didn’t know, Idina won her Tony Award for her work in Wicked as the green girl Elphaba!

Make sure to watch a man singing “Let It Go” using twenty-one different Disney voices if you haven’t seen it yet.

I adore this woman! Fantastic singer, I started noticing her when she had a part in the Rent movie…she should have sang the part of Mimi! Fantastic performer, she well deserves her success!

Ummm…Cyndi Lauper has multiple top 10 Billboard hits including 2 #1′s…and also Barbra Streisand. Did I miss something in the article? She is hardly the first.

i didnt like when she sang the song i was like what! she really didnt do great job i was like demi should be singing in her place

@jon:
Barbra has never won a tony, Cyindi’s one is not for acting.

Because Idina’s performance was the only version. Notice the past animated movies where they have a singing character version and also a pop version? And usually it’s the pop version is what they promote and release
