Franchise film Divergent has scored the top slot at the box office during its first weekend in theaters, earning $56 million, Variety reports.

The Shailene Woodley-starrer met expectations from the studio for it’s totals.

The second place slot went to Muppets Most Wanted, which disappointed in its first weekend, making only $16.5 million.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman took the third place slot with $11.7 million.

Rounding out the top five were 300: Rise of An Empire and God’s Not Dead, a faith-based film which performed outstanding for a limited release film. They brought in $8.6 and $8.5 million respectively.

Lars Von Trier‘s Nymphomaniac: Volume I grossed roughly $132,000 from 22 locations, much less than his previous films.
