Frozen's Idina Menzel: 'I'm a 42-Year-Old Woman Who Likes to Talk About Sex'

Idina Menzel looks gorgeous while posing for a photo shoot for her Billboard magazine cover story, on newsstands now.

Here is what the Frozen actress had to share with the mag:

On her live performances not being appropriate for kids: “I’m a 42-year-old woman who likes to talk about sex, and I’ve got a foul mouth. Moms bring their little 6-year-olds to my shows in Elphaba costumes or Elsa costumes, and I have a responsibility. Sometimes that’s challenging to figure out how to continue to be myself even though there’s a little girl in the front row.”

On her new found stardom: “I feel grateful people are giving me a shot. It’s not something I take lightly. Maybe people didn’t know me before John Travolta f-ed up my name, but I’m not going to chase anything anymore. … Every time I’ve ever tried to do that, I’ve missed it. When you sit back and you just do what you love, things happen.”

On sticking with her new show If/Then: “I’m committed to my show. I’m not going to abandon a show that I’ve been a part of creating for years… I’m a little concerned that critics will use me as a target. Just because there might be a bunch of young girls waiting outside doesn’t take away from this amazing piece of work.”

I am convinced it must be mandatory for any star to bring up something trashy, talented or not…

That’s on the parents. They shouldn’t be taking their young children to Idina’s shows. She isn’t Elsa in real life.

I’ve been a fan of hers since I saw RENT during it’s first run. This kind of success DID NOT happen for her overnight just because she was well known in the theatre community. I’m happy for her rising success, and I’m glad that although she uses adult language, she also realizes that little girls look up to her and she recognizes that in the way she performs for them. Although I agree with @Cate, it’s on the parents. They should do a little research online if they’re not familiar with her shows and then make the decision to take their kids…chances are, they won’t.

She’s a bit eccentric and a lto of people who attend her shows say she talks mroe than sings. I’m not a fan of her voice at all but it’s good she’s getting some recognition.
