Angelina Jolie's 'Unbroken' is a Film 'We All Need Now More Than Ever'

Angelina Jolie looks absolutely gorgeous at The State of the Industry: Past, Present and Future and Universal Studios Presentation held at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace during CinemaCon on Tuesday (March 25) in Las Vegas.

The 38-year-old actress discussed her film Unbroken, which she just wrapped directing earlier this year.

“Over the years the project experienced a number of false starts,” Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley said of the project (via THR).

“I wanted to make this film because in the end its message is one that we all need now more than ever. It’s the journey of man finding his way through the darkness and into the light,” Angelina said when she walked on stage.

FYI: Angelina is wearing Juan Carlos Obando with Ferragamo shoes.

    Phool -
Don’t make me say it – her lips moved, ergo she lied. I realize not everyone has been to college, but she always sounds so fvcking ignorant. “Un-jarring” and “non-fabulous?” And apparently she forgot to be “grateful and humble” while doing that PSA with Sidney Poitier because they thought she was a total beeyotch. Then again you get that a lot when people say they’ve run into her at events. I’m also laughing because the interviewer said she must be normal because she was sitting on the floor eating celery sticks dipped in ranch dressing? No, normal is sitting on the floor eating a big bowl of buttery popcorn or maybe a plate of nachos. Normal people don’t really eat a whole lot of celery dipped in ranch dressing unless they’re at a party. And it was probably fat-free ranch dressing at that.
Also, I guess we also know the real reason she was in NYC last week – it wasn’t be with Squiggy. It was so she could do interviews pimping Aveeno. This is the 3rd or 4th one I’ve seen. Although, I don’t see one word mentioned here about Aveeno – so why was she giving interviews if not to pimp Aveeno? She has nothing at all to promote except her “mini movie” for Aveeno – so why all the lip-flapping lie-telling?
BTW – I read that Ticky and Squiggy were staying at the Four Seasons last week. I couldn’t help but think about what Tate Donovan said – she was all about 5-star hotels and he liked bed-and-breakfast. Squiggy, while in NYC on his own, had been staying at a much less expensive hotel in Greenwich Village. But that wasn’t good enough for Her Tickness. Again – COMEDY. FVCKING. GOLD.

    Thanks for that Phool.

You know, someone needs to tell the fat tick that if you tell people you are humble, you aren’t.

And that her mind was a terrible thing to have wasted.
ROTFLMAO. SNAP! Her hubmleness probably starts and stops with sitting on really expensive carpeting in a really expensiving 5-star hotel eating over-priced celery and ranch dip while wearing $10,000 worth of designer clothes.

that interview was gag worthy. Huvsy wrote the questions and she rehearsed her narcissistic, victimized answers trying to sound like an ‘artiste’……….

Here are the questions that should have been asked:

    1. Your career seems to be at a bit of a stalemate right now it because of some rather bad reviews of your work or is it because you are ageing out of romcoms? In WTM you played a mother………albeit one who strips……….is it harder to qualify for dramatic roles as your career has been focused on lighter subjects?

    2. There always seems to be a strong sexual overtone to your roles……is this something that you prefer?

    3. You managed to get the People cover last year this time pre-empting Oscar winners………..this was to announce your imminent wedding……….what has happened to that? It seems you and your fiancé prefer living in different cities.

    4. If not for your previous marriage to the A lister Brad Pitt and the ensuing tab triangle when you divorced………do you think your career would have been more in line with the careers of your alum from Friends?

    5. What are your plans for retirement? You don’t seem to like to travel that much except to Mexico and one or two quick trips to Europe. What sort of life to you plan when the spotlight has moved on to another generation?

    6. Many times you said you were going to have children. Have you changed your mind about that? You recently did a mocking short about the pregnancy speculation but during my research I found various quotes saying that you ‘will’ have kids. I am assuming your rethought that or didn’t find the right person at the right time.

    7. Sandy Bullock’s career turned at one point toward more drama……that seems to have worked for her…you said once that ‘Oscar’ was next……….do you still feel you have an “Oscar’ winning performance in you?
This deserves a re-posting. Too funny. I can just see Ticky’s head doing an Exorcist swivel as the questions come flying at her one after another. She’d bust out the crocodile tears and Huvsy would step in and end the interview and get the reporter fired. I’d take a reporter gig for 1 day just so I could be the person getting fired. LOL!

The Gathering Place to hold free BRCA symposium on April 5
CLEVELAND, Ohio — When actress Angelina Jolie announced to the world last spring that she had undergone a preventive double mastectomy to lower her risk of breast cancer, many people found themselves hearing about the BRCA gene for the very first time.
On April 5 The Gathering Place is holding its first-ever symposium devoted solely to the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. The free, day-long event is geared toward not just women and men who have found out that they have inherited the mutated gene, but also those with a strong family history of cancer; …………….

Ticky said ” I just want to keep trying to surprise myself and I want to keep challenging myself ”
Can someone explain to me WTF did she do in the past 9 years that was challenging? She has never done anything challenging. Does she even know what the word “Challenging” means?
ROTFLMAO. You guys were on a roll this morning. I told you – Ticky = COMEDY. FVCKING. GOLD. But…she’s humble.
BTW – what has Ticky done the last 9 years that’s been challenging? Well…she tried multiple times to get Brad back and we all know how that worked out. She stole another woman’s man. That had to be a challenge because she didn’t know for sure how many zeroes to put on the check. And lest we all forget – there was the challenging stunt work of Bountiless. Not everybody can run in high heels OR climb into the trunk of a car. For instance – nanogenerians with compound hip fractures would find the latter impossible to do. So…don’t sell Ticky short…

Lerman tells ShortList magazine, “I think Brad Pitt is one of the coolest tough guys in movie history. Fight Club is one of my favourite films and Tyler Durden is one of the most bad*ss characters ever. Every morning at 5am, David Ayer had us put on UFC-style padded clothes and fight each other for a few hours. I forgot Brad is f**king 50 you know? He’s in killer shape and f**king fought with the young dudes. He still looks like Tyler Durden.”
Where’s Deej at? 21 year-old Logan Lerman just said that 50 year-old Brad Pitt is in as good a physical shape as he is. STFU, DJ! I’m sure Angie has put his stellar physical conditioning to good use indoors…and outdoors, too.

Bisset tells Britain’s The Independent newspaper, “Angelina is incredibly self-contained, but she’s had a hard life; she’s had a difficult life; she is carrying a lot of baggage from her life and she is very strong… She is very powerful, though she doesn’t show this aspect particularly now. She is also very gentle and peaceful.”
Jacqueline Bisset doesn’t talk about Angie very often but when she does she certainly knows how to subtly shade JV without mentioning his name. I’m guessing they didn’t hang out at the Golden Globes in January…

Apparently, the dumba ss doesn’t realize that ranch dressing isn’t pure just because you put on celery. But of course, she now knows about “oats and stuff” so I guess she’s all good.

“Here are the questions that should have been asked:”

I swear I would go to ticky’s next three movies and not say one bad word if any reporter were able to get at least one of those questions in.

The joy of watching her fat humble head explode would be worth supporting whatever stripper, paper bag wearing, fruit fellating ***** show the sad spook puts on.

She’s out there promoting 2 of 2014′s most anticipated films in two completely different genres that have the potential to earn more than a billion dollars worldwide all while prepping to host world leaders in a summit on behalf of the UN like it’s something special.

Doesn’t she realize that all that doesn’t hold a candle to a 90 second voiced over infomercial on “oats and stuff” featuring a 50 year old muffin faced has been barren cow?

In five years I would hope to be married and have a kid.

***Unlike our resident troll, I wouldn’t wish death or Cancer on her child or loved ones as karmic payback for her lying.
LOL, 02. Ticky busted in another lie. Quelle shocking! You know I can never say it often enough – if her lips are moving, she’s lying. I’m sure if a reporter reminded her of this quote she’d say she was misquoted – “again”. I always remember Nancy O’Dell actually having the guts to say that to Ticky in an interview for The Dog Flick. O’Dell asked Ticky about something she’d said in a previous interview and Ticky and Ticky shrugged it off and said she was misquoted. Nancy O’Dell said, “Again?” and moved right along to the next question. Ticky looked dumbstruck for a second but then I think O’Dell’s comment went right over her head. Owen Wilson was sitting next to Ticky and he was coked up out of his gills and not paying the least bit of attention to the whole convo.

Angelina Jolie debuts ‘Unbroken’ footage at CinemaCon
When prestige is what you’re going for, it certainly doesn’t hurt to have one of the most famous women in the world as your centerpiece. And so onto the stage strode Angelina Jolie, stunning in white, to introduce her second directorial effort, the adaptation of Laura Hillenbrand’s Unbroken, to an audience of theater owners at Tuesday’s CinemaCon.
According to Universal Pictures chairwoman Donna Langley, it was Jolie’s chase of Olympian and POW Louis Zamperini’s story that pushed this project — originally developed by the studio in 1957 as a starring vehicle for Tony Curtis — to the big screen. Called “a force of nature” by Langley, Jolie took center stage to tell the story of Zamperini, a running star in the 1936 Olympics, who was shot down in a B-24 over a Japanese island and taken prisoner along with his survivors.
Jack O’Connell is playing Zamperini in a film shot by Oscar-nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins and scored by Oscar-nominated composer Alexandre Desplat.
“Louis Zamperini is the toughest man I have ever met. A fighter and a true hero. A man full of faith and humility,” says Jolie. “But he wasn’t always perfect. Smoking, stealing, and drinking from the time he was 9. He was convinced he was worth nothing and full of darkness.”
She adds her reason for making the movie: “In the end its message is one we all need now more than ever — the journey of a man finding his way through the darkness and into the light. It’s about an imperfect person… someone who helps to remind us all what each of us is capable of.”
Jolie was the only talent present during Universal’s slate presentation, which was chock-full of highlights from both 2014 and into 2015.

CinemaCon: Universal Excites Convention With First Looks At ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’, ‘Minions’, ‘Fast & Furious 7′ And Angelina Jolie’s Potential Oscar Juggernaut ‘Unbroken’

But despite all of this news-making footage it was clearly Angelina Jolie who stole this show. As the only star Universal trotted out on stage, she was there this time as the director of their Christmas Day release, Unbroken and introduced seven minutes of footage from what definitely looks like a possible Oscar juggernaut. It has all the makings.
With all its top executives present, including Ron Meyer, new Chairman Jeff Shell (who told me this was his first time ever at CinemaCon), Langley, and distribution President Nikki Rocco among others, the studio presented a diverse slate with lots of sequels, raunchy comedies from a couple of Seths (Rogen and MacFarlane), hard action flicks and a couple of films that look like they have heavyweight Oscar potential – and breakout boxoffice prospects. That would definitely be the Jolie film which tells the incredible inspirational story of Olympic runner and World War 2 POW Louis Zamperini. About three minutes of it was seen during the Winter Olympics but this was the first extended look.

But the clear highlight came with Unbroken. Let the Oscar speculation begin even though it is only March and no one has seen the finished movie yet. At this year’s Oscar Governors Ball Jolie was clearly excited about this one which she told me she was still deep into post -production and working on.
The backstory of the film is extraordinary. Langley says it was originally in development as a vehicle for Tony Curtis in 1957CinemaCon 2014 – The State Of The Industry: Past, Present And Future And Universal Studios Presentation but never got made. In over a half century since then it has attracted – and lost – many directors and actors until a best selling book about Zamperini came out in 2010 and Jolie willed this project into action.
Langley says she is the reason it got made without doubt.
For Jolie, it was a simple decision to throw herself into what looks like a movie that will have equal appeal to audiences and Academy members. “I wanted to make this film because in the end its message is one that we now need more than ever. It’s the journey of a man finding his way out of the darkness and into the light. It is about an imperfect person, one who we and our children can relate to. Someone who helps to remind us all what each of us is capable of – to never lose heart, to find Universal Pictures logo 2013brotherhood with our fellow man, to gain strength with our family, to identify our fears and our pain, to come face to face with the darkness and to never, ever give up. We are unbroken,” she said as the footage rolled and was very well received in the theatre.
The movie could also provide a real Oscar opportunity for its ten-time nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins and six-time nominated composer Alexandre Desplat among others. Universal knows what they have here and that is why it grabbed the Christmas Day slot. Time will tell but it smells to me like the 2014 Oscar race just got started this morning at CinemaCon.
