Selena Gomez Gives Inspiring Speech at We Day - Watch Now!

Selena Gomez speaks on stage at the first annual We Day California event held at the Oracle Arena on Wednesday afternoon (March 26) in Oakland, Calif.

“I am not an activist. I haven’t changed the world or led a campaign. I’m here to just tell you my path so that you can hopefully take something away from it because I don’t like being honest with press and interviews. I like being honest with you directly,” the 21-year-old entertainer said to start her speech.

Dear Selena, giving young people false hopes doesn’t help. Everybody has dreams. But only a minority has some chance to follow them. Just because we’re not talented enough, or parents doesn’t support us, because we are poor, because we need to work to feed our kids, because we were born in hell… Having dreams about what I wish to do in my life leads to miserable life and dissapointmnet. Most of us ends in marriage, with kids, working for living, dissapointed, sad and forgetting the idea who we wanted to be once. That’s growing up. That’s loosing illusions about nice world where only working hard can save you. Sorry, world is tough, life is hard and cruel. Sometimes…But on the other hand… yes, dream on. It moves us foreward. Some of us are lucky enough to fullfill our dreams. Do you have any idea hom many Selenas is out there? Thousands? And only one of them got this far? Where is the rest? Did they dream less? Did they work less? Where are they now? Did they have to give up their dreams?
