Robert Downey Jr. WINS Favorite Butt Kicker at Kids' Choice Awards 2014!

Robert Downey Jr. poses with his blimp backstage at the 2014 Kids’ Choice Awards held at the USC Galen Center on Saturday (March 29) in Los Angeles.

The 48-year-old actor picked up the award for Favorite Male Buttkicker for his work in Iron Man 3. He beat out The Lone Ranger‘s Johnny Depp, The Wolverine‘s Hugh Jackman, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation‘s Dwayne Johnson.

“This is the highest honor yet bestowed on me — I’m grateful, humble, the whole deal,” Robert said during his speech. “You know I wasn’t always a buttkicker. In fact, life has kicked my proverbial butt countless times in many ways for many years, until I decided one day to start kicking back. Now look at me!”

Thank you, Robert Downey, Jr., for recognizing and honoring Maceo Alvarez — and your contribution to raising awareness about Congenital Heart Defects (CHD).

On June 29 at the Greater Los Angeles Heart Walk, Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA), along with Ahmanson/UCLA Adult Congenital Heart Disease Center (UCLA ACHDC), USC/Keck Adult Congenital Heart Care Center, and the Congenital Heart Program at the Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center will be honoring the 2 to 3 million children and adults born with CHD.

Congenital heart defects are the #1 birth defect in the U.S., and the world. The great news is that because of advances in surgical interventions, many of these babies now survive into adulthood. Because of this increase in survival rates, for the first time in history, there are now more adults than children with CHD.
