'Noah' Defeats 'Divergent' at Weekend Box Office

Biblical epic Noah has taken the top slot at this weekend’s box office, dethroning last week’s Divergent from the number one placement.

The Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, and Jennifer Connelly film took in $44 million in the US – it also enjoyed a great international box office. In fact, Noah scored the biggest opening of all time for a non-sequel in Russia, grossing $17 million, THR reports.

Divergent came in second place, bringing in $26.5 million in its second weekend at the theater.

Muppets Most Wanted came in at number three with $11.3 million, followed by Mr. Peabody and Sherman and God’s Not Dead in the fourth and fifth place spots. Those movies took in $9.5 and $9 million respectively.

Additionally, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson‘s Captain America: The Winter Soldier won huge numbers overseas from 32 markets, bringing in $75.2 million.

Not faring so well was Arnold Schwarzenegger and Joe Manganiello‘s Sabotage, which opened at just over $5 million it its opening weekend.

What a dramatic title. Divergent was in its second week. It would only be a defeat if it came out the same day. Divergent was very good.

Noah got a ” c” cinema score which is really bad and movies that get that score from audiences usually have no legs.

Used to go to the movies every weekend but now have to pick and choose carefully as a solo senior living on a small fixed income. I feel the best movies are issues in the very late fall and in December so they can be considered for the Oscar nominations.
Frankly Noah does not sound that interesting.
