'How I Met Your Mother' Stars Preview Tonight's Series Finale!

Cobie Smulders heads into the Ed Sullivan Theatre for a taping of Late Show with David Letterman on Monday (March 31) in New York City.

The series finale of the 31-year-old actress’ hit series How I Met Your Mother airs tonight and here are things that some of the cast members had to say about the show ending:

Cobie: “I’ve landed in this place of just sublime gratitude, truly. Because any time I start to get sad about our show, I think about just how long we have been on the air,” she told CBS News. “And now I’m just walking out there into the unknown. And I just start weeping — I don’t know when I’m going to work next!”

Neil Patrick Harris: “We never talked about the end. Josh Radnor has never been funnier and Cristin Milioti made me cry,” he said. “After, like, five drinks, I cornered our producers at our Christmas party and said, ‘Spill the beans. Tell me how it all ends’. And they did. It’s more complicated than you’d assume. Fans won’t be disappointed.”

FYI: Cobie is wearing a Monique Lhuillier dress.

Alyson Hannigan: “A lot of my Twitter followers asked if I was going to go to New York and be there, because they watch it at the bar that MacLaren’s [the pub on the show] is based on, but I won’t be able to do that,” she told Time. “I’ll be shooting a pilot the next day so I’ll have to be here. Besides, all the blubbering I’ll do, I should probably stay at home. I shouldn’t be out in public.

Josh Radnor: “”I knew that one big plot thing early, but it wasn’t something that I thought about so much as we were going on,” he told THR. “I always tried to remember that the version of Ted I was playing was moving forward and didn’t know everything. He wasn’t the narrator [Bob Saget], with the benefit of hindsight. It was always better for me to just read the episodes each week and try to play him as honestly as I could each week. I trusted them that they were going to take him on the right journey.”

Cristin Milioti: “I am mourning, but I feel guilty about it because I feel I don’t have the right to,” she told Examiner. “I was so sad when the show wrapped. I sobbed on the set.”
