'Captain America: Winter Soldier' End Credits Scenes Explained!

SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!!!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier was released in theaters today in the United States and it is set to make records this weekend at the box office. Lots of people though are probably wondering what was up during those end credits scenes.

The movie is set to make a huge amount of money over the weekend with safe estimates being placed at around $93 million, though it has a chance of grossing over $100 million.

The first Captain America film was a modest success, but this film is expected to do way better at the box office due to the help of the mega-hit film The Avengers, as well as the positive reviews it is receiving.

In the first scene shown during the closing credits, we are introduced to Baron Wolfgang von Strucker, played by Thomas Kretschmann. The character is one of the leaders of HYDRA and in the scene he talks about the fall of both S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA, “two sides of the same coin that no longer hold any currency,” according to Yahoo.

Von Strucker is then seen checking out the weapons that he has, which include Loki’s mind-controlling scepter that he used in The Avengers, as well as “The Twins,” who happen to be Pietro Maximoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen). They will be seen in the upcoming film The Avengers: Age of Ultron as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, respectively.

We see that the twins are in a two-sided glass cell and both look like they’re a mess. Pietro has a shaggy haircut and can’t control his sudden bursts of speed while Wanda is sitting on the floor quietly working on her “dangerous hexes.” Von Strucker declares that the “age of miracles” has arrived and then the scene ends with a floating object that Wanda created suddenly exploding.

There is a second end credits scene after the final scrolling credits end. We see a Captain America exhibit at the Smithsonian museum and are taken to the section of the exhibit dedicated to James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes, the WWII buddy of the Cap. There is a man reading the exhibit and we then see that it is actually Bucky (Sebastian Stan) himself checking it out. Reports are saying that this could lead the character to be a good guy in the next film.
