Beyonce Graces the Cover of Out Magazine, Explains 'Women Should Own Their Sexuality'

Beyonce is blonde and gorgeous on the cover of Out magazine’s May 2014 issue.

Here’s what the 32-year-old superstar had to share with the mag:

On her latest album being sexually charged: “There is unbelievable power in ownership, and women should own their sexuality. There is a double standard when it comes to sexuality that still persists. Men are free and women are not. That is crazy. The old lessons of submissiveness and fragility made us victims. Women are so much more than that. You can be a businesswoman, a mother, an artist, and a feminist—whatever you want to be—and still be a sexual being. It’s not mutually exclusive.”

On her new album sounding more raw: “When I recorded ‘XO’ I was sick with a bad sinus infection. I recorded it in a few minutes just as a demo and decided to keep the vocals. I lived with most of the songs for a year and never rerecorded the demo vocals. I really loved the imperfections, so I kept the original demos. I spent the time I’d normally spend on backgrounds and vocal production on getting the music perfect. There were days I spent solely on getting the perfect mix of sounds for the snare alone. Discipline, patience, control, truth, risk, and effortlessness were all things I thought about while I was putting this album together.”

On many groups identifying with her album: “While I am definitely conscious of all the different types of people who listen to my music, I really set out to make the most personal, honest, and best album I could make. I needed to free myself from the pressures and expectations of what I thought I should say or be, and just speak from the heart. Being that I am a woman in a male-dominated society, the feminist mentality rang true to me and became a way to personalize that struggle…But what I’m really referring to, and hoping for, is human rights and equality, not just that between a woman and a man. So I’m very happy if my words can ever inspire or empower someone who considers themselves an oppressed minority…We are all the same and we all want the same things: the right to be happy, to be just who we want to be and to love who we want to love.”

    She is an utter idiot!

    Susie Says:

She must have an IQ of about 10 or 11, plus she is totally selfish, all the money she has and she doesn’t do or talk about anything but herself.

    Dahlia Says:

She’s so stupid and the bleach blonde hair needs to go. Yuck.

    me myself & I Says:

But is she fake in her music videos or not? Because in interviews she looks bland

    ugh Says:

First, the blond wig is atrocious. More proof of Beyonce wishing she was something other than herself.

Secondly, her and Miley need to shut it! Neither of them know a damn thing about what true feminism is. They and their pr folks are just trying to make excuses for their disgusting behavior. A woman can be sexual however we don’t need to hear about degrading sex acts in the music you so called “strong/grown women” sell to young boys and girls under ths age of 18. They are the ones listening and viewing your filthy videos and then when some try to mimic what they see because they deem it as cool because Miley or Beyonce do it. Samething goes for all the other filthy trash that some call music today. Most of this mess is the reason STD’s is the highest amongst teenagers because they are pretty much introduced to porn in these videos. Yet you twits think this is feminism.

Oh my word Beyoncé! Shut it UP already! I’m so fed up with her and Jay Z too (who I once thought was the _hit) You are NOT all that! (imo)

@Anya: Two thumbs up! Couldn’t agree more. I’m so over them (she and he)

    Gina Says:

Wow… Thanks Beyoncé i was deceived by society, but not i understand that i need to take my close off to be a real/grown/strong woman. Liberation yay!!!
I thought the point of feminist, is that we are equal. I’m not a prude, but hinting that woman who don’t dress like ***** are submissive and victims is a little too much. I can’t believe how many people are eating this up!

    What's Up Says:

Beyonce always getting hate, she is a successful black woman and some people can’t stand it. Same thing for Miley Cyrus these women speaks the truth and some of ya’ll can’t handle it.

    Notafan Says:

Beyonce, we get it, you’re sexual.

Why does she have to keep talking about it all the damn time?

    mind control Says:

her new world order job is to help destroy the family,
thus the healthy growth of the individual,
making all ripe for the picking for their new all powerful
    government daddy/family
the female empowerment message is another Trojan Horse.
women, (all) will lose their freedom in the long run
    and be controlled

    offtheproperty Says:

If she and her admitted thug-pimp husband think black men are superior in every way, why then would they name their first child Blue Eye Vee?

  17. 17
    stella Says:

I seriously can’t believe how dumb she is.

  18. 18
    Too funny! Says:

Wow! Black Americans really love to trash members of their own race whenever they get rich and famous. Yet, black females just LOVE people like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to pieces. It makes no sense! It sounds like Beyonce is trying to use her “platform” to encourage other people to feel good about themselves, and for some reason, so many blacks get offended by it. Beyonce is not the best, but she’s also not NEARLY the worst!

    Shar Says:

I hate how this woman tries to be white why don’t she embrace her black culture and take out the blond weave. Both her parents are black. Her mother is Black Creole so why is she bleaching her skin and wearing blond wigs? She looked so beautiful when she was younger now she is a disgrace!

  20. 20
She has the money though Says:

So black people – black women- are never allowed to die their hair any color than black because if they do, it is self-hate? Asians too? Latinas? Also, there are plenty of black people born with blonde hair so are they trying to be something they are not? Britney Spears has a right to die her hair but not Beyonce? Really? How about Beyonce can do what she pleases since it is her money and her head? In fact, I think most WHITE women would love to be Beyonce. Let’s see: she is under 35 and almost a billionaire, has an amazing career, known throughout the world on a first name basis, has a family and runs an empire. Why would she want to be anyone else? The silliness of these comments just show bitterness.

  21. 21
    Cath Says:

So a black woman is not allowed to die her hair with it being something of a race hating thing? So are white women hating themselves when they tan or die their dark hair to blonde? Britney Spears gets to die her hair but Beyonce is not allowed? She can’t wear a weave without it being about self=hate? Maybe the ones criticizing this are the ones only seeing race here. There are black people born with blonde hair and “white traits” since statistically 53% of African-Americans have white lineage. Are they trying to be something they are not? What are they exactly? Also, I would sa, many WHITE women would want to be Beyonce: she is under 35, almost a billionaire, has a family, known throughout the world on a first name basis, runs an empire. Why would people think she is trying to be them? lol. This is all about a fall sense of privilege: thinking everyone wants to be you. Beyonce is not thinking of any of you. She owns islands, yachts, mansions and everything you wish you had.

  22. 22
    Cath Says:

Only in America: a black man is looking at close to a billion dollars, pulled himself from his own bootstraps, is creative, runs an empire, is never seen doing drugs or anything crazy off camera yet the first word people use to describe him is “thug”. So sad. But does he care? No, Jay Z is busy taking action. What have you done today?

  23. 23
    Sayer Says:

    She has become sleazy. Yikes.

  24. 24
    Terrible Says:

If this was a post about Brad and Angie and there 50 plus adopted children..there would be 100000 plus comments of ass kissing. Every time I read a post about Bey & Jay on this site there is so much hate and such nasty comments. Not even surprising anymore…

  25. 25
    Itswhatsinsidethatcounts Says:

Id like beyonce to get really schooled in Feminist Theory. There is a lot of discussion there on history, media dipictions on women, lots to it. I did it. Made me a better businesswoman.
How come Beyonce became so empowered using JAY Z, a feminist would ask? Why didnt she speak out about equality without the crutch of a man?
Why does she talk about equality but makes no concerted effort to bridge the gap? Art without meaningful discussions from her makes her appear like a phoney. And who is going to be interested in an Artist like that?
