James Franco Is the Happiest Guy Opening His 'New Film Stills' Art Exhibition at Pace Gallery!
James Franco is all smiles as he is greeted by a flock of fans while making his way into the Pace Gallery for his James Franco: New Film Stills opening on Thursday (April 10) in New York City.
The 35-year-old actor’s art exhibition sees him recreating photographer Cindy Sherman‘s famous Untitled Film Stills series. He has taken Sherman’s place as the subject of the stills and has donned wigs and women’s clothes to recreate the images.
“Cindy Sherman’s groundbreaking series Untitled Film Stills showed us how we look at ourselves in film. These were performances within multiple frames of significance,” James expressed (via Hintmag). “But Sherman was an artist looking at the film industry from the outside. I have started on the inside. I earn my living in the commercial film business. This new series of film stills puts one more frame around the dialogue Sherman introduced.”
