Lost internet for a few days, and come back to see that there are only two posts on this thread.
I guess that good deeds don’t go unpunished, eh?
Good on all of these celebs for standing behind Malala. She is an amazing young woman.

I’ve just read about the Malala Fund and have learned more about Free the Children. Both are honorable in their intentions and efforts, it seems, but it’s going to take more than celebrity endorsements and 24 hours of silence to stop child labor in the world, to allow girls the right to enjoy and benefit from a sound and solid education equal to their male counterparts, and to CHANGE DEEPLY ROOTED CULTURAL, RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL BELIEFS AND STRUCTURES AROUND THE WORLD. The fact is that SOME EXTREMELY ELITE AND POWERFUL PEOLE LIKE THINGS JUST AS THEY ARE – AND THE MALALA FUND IS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO CHANGE THAT WITH MONEY AND CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENTS. THIS IS MUCH BIGGER AND A FAR GREATER ISSUE THAN IT APPEARS ON THE SURFACE. Change deeply held cultural and religious beliefs as well as political structures and regimes, and girls might get that education, and child labor laws might be implemented in third world countries – finally.

This is going to take more than money and celebrity speeches.

Most people think like me that Selena Gomez dating Orlando Bloom is just a revenge romance for her ex Justin Bieber hooking up with Miranda Kerr: http://opi.cc/HuGdY6VxPG7rG9Ct
