Cameron Diaz to 'InStyle': No One is Naturally Monogamous

Cameron Diaz looks beautiful on the cover of InStyle‘s May 2014 issue, on newsstands April 18.

Here is what the 41-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On past relationships: “I’m 41 years old – I’ve been through everything, OK? I’m grateful for all of it – whether it was quick and passing or something that lingered too long. There is not one thing I’ve been through that hasn’t been a lesson that led me to this moment, and I can’t believe how great life keeps getting.”

On getting older: “That’s what life is about. Being honest with yourself and not being afraid. Fear and failure and all the things that come with pain are actually the best thing for you – if you go toward them with the purpose of getting stronger.”

On monogamy: “I don’t know if anyone is really naturally monogamous. We all have the same instincts as animals. But we live in a society where it’s been ingrained in us to do these things.”

Also pictured inside: Cameron and her The Other Woman co-stars Kate Upton and Leslie Mann catching a flight out of LAX Airport on Sunday evening (April 13) in Los Angeles.

FYI: Cameron is wearing a Donna Karan New York dress, a Tod’s belt, Jennifer Zeuner necklaces and bracelets, a Jennifer Fisher bracelet, and rings by Bijules and Dailyook on the cover. She is wearing a Melinda Maria ring at the airport.

HaHaHa! This coming from a woman who can’t get a guy to marry her! Sit the heck down!

# 5

It’s really annoying that she keeps on saying the same thing over and over again. We get it.

@f- You don’t think that they worked at that? People take a commitment and they work at keeping that commitment. It doesn’t mean it’s a natural thing. @Lauren- It’s sad when people assume that marriage is end game for everyone. Maybe she’s fine with the way her life is. There are other things in life besides marriage and babies.

Just because they were together, does not mean they were always monogamous.

@f:

I have a feeling your dad was just good at hiding his lust for other, hotter women. Plus getting married sixty years ago is not the equivalent of getting married in the 21st century. Get real.

She’s right about monogamy. If any of you had any knowledge of anything besides pop culture you’d realize she’s right about it. I’m not surprised though – degenerates and their devolved opinions always flock to the comments section because they have no lives. The only reason I’m one of you today is to correct your ignorance. Nature builds men to sow as much of their seed as possible so they have as many successors of their genes in the next generation and beyond. Women are the nurturers because they can’t plant their seed as regularly as men, and instead invest their time in raising a stable human being that will procreate just as well as a man’s. You all are so pathetic. You probably believe in creationism too. There are two people in this life – the ones in articles and the ones in the comments section. It’s clear which ones you all are.

No.1; Most likely your seemingly wonderful great grandparents voted for FDR. And look where that got us…

No.10; There is no know scientifically-proven principle in the modern world of physics, biology, chemistry, and mathematics, that could ever even suggest that the theory of evolution is a valid theory.
Think everybody who is writing “articles” in the major media is still saying that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii; and you start to get the basic idea.

she’s a used up ****** who’s had over a 100 boyfriends,no smart men wants to marry someone like that

Wow. All the replies are super SWEET. Thanks for taking a sentence that I wrote and pretending you know who I am . :) You guys are super SWEET and I’m sure you guys are really NICE people. Don’t place judgement on other people. Just because you aren’t able to control yourselves doesn’t mean others can’t. There are (surprise) more things to life then banging every single person you see. And I know this may come to a surprise to you guys, but it’s true. Oh and thanks for also assuming that my great grandfather cheated on my great grandmother. Also they were Republican not Democrat so chances are they didn’t vote for FDR.

@f: Agreed! SO many older people have remained married and happy for 30+ years. It’s sadly our society nowadays, where we thing marriage is just always warm and fuzzy feelings and it’s not. It’s being together through the good and bad and WORKING IT OUT.

@f: These are people commenting on a gossip site, don’t take their comments to heart.

@Effy: @Elle: Thank you guys.

Some people are monogamous, and some aren’t. That’s all there is to it. I feel naturally monogamous. Been in relationships (and marriage) that I was unhappy in, but never for a moment thought of cheating. And I can get men, but I don’t believe in putting myself “out there” sexually. I value my mind and body. My parents were married for a long time unhappily and later divorced. It’s about the people involved — not marriage as a whole. I believe most long-term marriages have involved infidelity, generally on the husband’s part, but they find a way to go on if they are committed to being married. Still, there are men who would not dream of cheating on their wives. They just seem be hard to find and in the minority.

It’s also easier for some people to adopt Cameron Diaz’s philosophy if they don’t want children. She is 41 already and the way she’s talking, you can tell that being a mother is not her desire. So, not surprised by her words. My guess is that she likely had a troubled family life while growing up, so she wants to remain free. People who grow up in happy families generally want the same for themselves.

Such a bitter woman.

Just beacuse all your boyfriends haven’t been able to stay faithful to you, doesn’t mean all people are like that.

@Dan: I thought Cameron was the one who cheated on Jared Leto? It’s all in the lyrics of his songs.

@f: I applaud and honor them … just ignore the hateful comments on here. What is wrong with people? Long-term, faithful marriages should be respected and honored. My grandma and grandpa were married over 50 years and I GUARANTEE that they were faithful ’til the day they died. God bless your great-grandparents, poster #1 …

Companion Script @ 04/15/2014 at 10:32 am

Impossible
I woke up bright and early,
It was a lovely day,
I knew it was the perfect
time
To give some love away.
So with every person that I
met,
My store of love I shared,
And sensed their happy,
warm response,
Just knowing someone
cared.
That night I checked my
love supply,
It would all be gone, no
doubt,
But found I had more love
by far
Than when I started out.
How marvellous the law of
life
I learned the lovely day,
It always comes back many
fold,
You can’t give love away!
