Leonardo DiCaprio Lines Up 'The Revenant' as His Next Big Film!

Leonardo DiCaprio has just landed his next new role in the highly anticipated film The Revenant, Deadline reports.

The 39-year-old actor will star in the Alejandro Gonzalez-directed gritty thriller based on the Michael Punke novel The Revenant: A Novel Of Revenge.

Leonardo will portray Hugh Glass, “a 19th century fur trapper who gets mauled by a grizzly bear, and then is left for dead by cohorts who rob him. When he survives, he is as pissed as a bee-stung bear and sets out on a treacherous journey to exact revenge on those who betrayed him.”

Leo has been circling the role since 2011! Sean Penn has also been rumored for many years, but is reportedly no longer attached.

The film will begin shooting in September for a 2015 release.

Hey there! I had it this morning. The tech said they should have the report on Thursday so I’m hoping to get a copy before I see my doc so I know what’s going on.

    Thanks for asking…. :-)

It’s nice to see him working but I wish he would sit back and play a regular guy or supporting role.

    @HAHA12:

If it starts shooting in the fall, he would need at least a couple of months beforehand to get into character, memorize lines, etc. right?

I’d think so, plus they still need to cast other actors in this too. It’ll be interesting to see what he does in the Summer, he’s been very passionate about working with this director for years and he may not want to party and bum around as much for that reason.

@HAHA12: I just got a used one on Amazon. It should arrive in a week. I’m a fast reader, I’ll let you know what I think.
@####: Glad it well. That’s a fast turn around! Hopefully, it’s nothing serious. Let me know! ;)

So I’m going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium on Saturday…..wouldn’t it be funny if I ran into Leo! It probably won’t happen but I know he has taken exes there before. Has he given Toni the fishy tour yet??? :-)

I never have figured what is in this for Gaarn after modeling. Her real appeal would be to men. And men do not like DiCaprio. Just phony and gay.

@beth: Hallelujah! Thanks for giving us the news in the last thread. What’s funny is that I have just seen that yesterday, somebody reposted on JJ an old interview where he spoke about wanting to work with Iñárritu (and Pault Thomas Anderson). He was linked to plenty of projects but I saw nothing about this one but it seems interesting. Even if, like Zzzzzz, I was rooting for the Devil in the White City. But well, I am really happy that he is back to work. Deadline is a serious site so I guess this is not just a rumour. He will probably enjoy the last part of his big break but I guess he has to get back to shape (I also think some articles were harsh as he is out of shape but not fat) and there will also be rehearsals before they start shooting so I think he will be more busy in the coming months.

@####: Fingers crossed for you! I hope this is nothing serious.

    Newcomer Says:

Wow, I have just read again the article and the JJ post and they say he has been circling the role since 2011. Has anybody heard about this before? I have not been following him regularly these last years but I have seen him linked to many projects but not this one even if I knew he liked Iñárritu and wanted to work with him. Very talented director btw. Good choice Leo!

    Newcomer Says:

It seems not only Zzzzz but also HAHA12 and beth wanted him to shoot the Devil in the White City first. I hope he still does it after this one.
