Television Legend Valerie Harper 'Absolutely Cancer Free' After Battle with Terminal Brain Cancer

A little over a year ago, television legend Valerie Harper was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, and she has just announced that she is officially cancer free!

The 74-year-old Mary Tyler Moore Show actress was told she had an inoperable brain tumor and would have maybe a few months. Doctors have been astounded by her results.

“I’m absolutely cancer-free!” she told Closer magazine. “My last scans have been positive, and my doctors are very happy. [The oncologist] looked at the scans and said, ‘Oh my God, Valerie, this is very encouraging!’”

“I’m now the poster child for not believing everything I’m told. There may come a time when I’m not feeling good,” she said. “But then again, that time may never come.”

    A year ago she said her doctors had given her as little as three months life expectancy. Although the disease is incurable, her doctors said they were treating her with chemotherapy in an effort to slow its progress. And now is she cancer free? Maybe she lied about her cancer like Michael Douglas.

    @losa:

    Michael Douglas didn’t lie about having cancer, he just said that he had a different kind than he really had. That’s not the same.

    @Josephine: I know that. But it was a lie about a serious disase so maybe she lied about the “seriousness” of her cancer. I mean when a doctor said that you have 3 months to live and is not curable and then you said a year later that you are cancer free…. It’s weird to me.

    Just wait, its not over. In approximately a year we’re going to find out that the cancer has moved to her spine or something. Cancer is a persistent little *****.
