I do think Beyonce is a great example of how a woman must be.

She dated for 10 years. Got married. Then had a baby. and she can still go up on a stage and shake her ass like a big **** and still earn my respect.

Keep saying shit yall, her bank account is incresing $$$$$

  • MimiB

Coachella has become nothing more than a celebrity PR vehicle. It is no longer a legitimate music festival… it’s all about papz, celebs, PR.

Beyonce and her disgusting commercial ilk are have ruined yet another grass roots festival.

@moses: Where was MJ brought up? I’m not a Bey fan at all, but I’m not a hater either. I don’t see where the comparison was made, but I agree with you that she’s no where near Michael status. Bey has created her own spot in musical history and she has a lot of fans who love her and her music and her style deeply. She’s not a musical pioneer in the way Michael was, but she’s coined a few of her own little phrases and dance moves (i.e. Single Ladies). I think if anyone says that she’s like a ‘female MJ’ or something, it’s more of the “born after 1995″ generation who never really saw how life was when Michael was still in his musical prime. Both artists have their own flare in their own way and one shouldn’t be put down over the other, but they should also not be compared.

  • EJ

@MimiB: I totally agree, but it’s really only that way if you see it that way. The online press is making it about the celebrities watching and hanging out instead of focusing on the celebrity musicians who are actually playing the festival. I think if you psychically go to Coachella (or watch the music performances on YT) and listen to the music and spend time with your friends, you can still make it about the festival FOR YOU, but if Coachella is about you looking forward to it because you want to see coverage over who’s there, what they’re wearing, who they saw, and check instagram to live vicariously through attendees, then you make it about “seen and be seen”. Does that make any sense? Basically, if you ignore the BS as much as possible, you can probably still enjoy Coachella the way it use to be. #beingoptimistic

Stop pretending to be white! Let’s see your natural hair once before u die! For someone who likes to stand up for her race, learn to love urself first. Why so u hate ur natural afro hair so much Beyonce?!

  • moses

@EJ: thank you very much. Yes, sometimes they compare her to MJ. I suppose it is because she has too many fans, but the truth is she never took a pen to write a song. Your analysis has helped me a lot.

  • EJ

@moses: no problem! I feel that if you were to compare her to MJ, it would be more on the grounds of…she’s globally famous and hasn’t gone out of style, anything she releases gains popularity, she’s liked by not only the black community but also the white community (and others), and she puts on major performances. But that could be said for many artists, and that’s why it’s not enough to put the two on the same level. I also agree that she’s not as involved with the production of her music as MJ was. She gets involved by not to the same degree.

They look out of place and ridiculous.

  • 55vineyard

Have to agree, have no idea of over half these musicians are, but then again I don’t keep up with current music. Agree Coachella has started to become a bit cliched.

  • Meg

@55vineyard: I’m so glad you said that! All of these articles should be about introducing some amazing talent at Coachella so that those who don’t keep up with current music can discover them. Instead it’s about the popular celebrities going to see them or only big chart toppers performances. I’d rather read about show The Naked And Famous did there than about the latest performance from Ellie Goulding or Lorde.
