'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Tops Easter Weekend Box Office While Johnny Depp's 'Transcendence' Fails to Impress

Captain America: The Winter Soldier topped its third consecutive box office with an additional $26.6 million this Easter weekend!

According to THR, the superhero sequel, starring Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, and Scarlett Johansson, crossed the $200 million mark domestically and hit $586.6 million worldwide.

Staying strong at No. 2 was the animated flick Rio 2, starring the voices of Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway, which brought in $22.5 million in its second weekend for a domestic total of $75.4 million so far.

Taking the third spot was the Christian flick Heaven Is For Real, which impressed with a stellar $21.5 million gross for its debut.

Rounding out the top five were Johnny Depp‘s Transcendence and the horror film Haunted House 2, which brought in $11.5 million and $9.1 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, Frozen became the No. 6 title of all time worldwide with $1.129 billion, surpassing The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ($1.114 billion) and Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon ($1.123 billion).
