THR's Women in Entertainment Breakfast Pulled from Beverly Hills Hotel

THR's Women in Entertainment Breakfast Pulled from Beverly Hills Hotel

The Hollywood Reporter will not be holding its annual Women in Entertainment breakfast at the Beverly Hills Hotel for the first time in 20 years.

The annual breakfast will not take place at the hotel as a result of the hotel’s connection to the Sultan of Brunei, who has instituted anti-gay laws.

The sultan has stirred up much controversy after putting into effect a severe new penal code based on Sharia law that demands death by stoning for homosexuals and adulterers.

In case you didn’t know, the annual Oscars Night Before Party has also decided not to hold its’ party at the hotel because of the Brunei anti-gay laws.

Nigeria has anti-gay laws, India does too. Iran’s President says there are no gays in his country. Sharia law calls for stoning of gays. Yet, I don’t see any call for letting less Indians in this country (these seem to be the only people with good jobs, hurray HB-1 visas) or a boycott of 7-11s? I would love to see gay people go after convenience stores-are you going to ask each owner if they are for gay rights? No, of course not. But make sure to sue when a cake shop won’t make a gay marriage cake (though there are hundreds of others to choose from). The gay mafia is becoming nothing but bulllies. As long as people believe in the Bible there will be people who are against gay marriage. It DOES NOT make them homophobic, they are entitled to their rights and you to yours. Now, if they slur you, that is a different story. Jason Collins ia sub-par NBA player who only has a job because he is gay. Look at his stats, they are terrible! But if you don’t hire him, you’re homophobic! 2014 the year of the GAY MAFIA. Do was we say or we will ruin you!

What is the hotel’s connection?

# 7

UglyMichelle, I applaud your comment :)

@Jessica: The Beverly Hills Hotel is one of many hotels (e.g. The Dorchester, 45 Park Lane, Hotel Bel-Air, Hôtel Meurice etc.) which is owned by Dorchester Collection. And the Dorchester Collection is owned by the Brunei Investment Agency
