Angelina Jolie Discusses 'Real, Deep' Relationship with Brad Pitt & Casting Her Kids in 'Maleficent' to 'Elle'

Angelina Jolie gets a total black and white treatment for Elle magazine’s June 2014 issue, on newsstands May 13.

Here’s what the 38-year-old Maleficent star had to share with the mag:

On her perception of her 20s: “[The media] misinterpreted as [me] wanting to be rebellious. And in fact it wasn’t a need to be destructive or rebellious—it’s that need to find a full voice, to push open the walls around you. You want to be free. And as you start to feel that you are being corralled into a certain life, you kind of push against it. It may come out very strange, it may be interpreted wrong, but you’re trying to find out who you are I realized that very young—that a life where you don’t live to your full potential, or you don’t experiment, or you’re afraid, or you hesitate, or there are things you know you should do but you just don’t get around to them, is a life that I’d be miserable living, and the only way to feel that I’m on the right path is just to be true to myself, whatever that may be, and that tends to come with stepping out of something that’s maybe safe or traditional.”

On her relationship with Brad Pitt: “You get together and you’re two individuals and you feel inspired by each other, you challenge each other, you complement each other, drive each other beautifully crazy. After all these years, we have history—and when you have history with somebody, you’re friends in such a very real, deep way that there’s such a comfort, and an ease, and a deep love that comes from having been through quite a lot together.”

On casting some of her children in Maleficent: “And my little Vivienne—we call her my shadow, because there’s nothing I can do to shake her. I can be tired, I can be grumpy, I can be in a terrible mood, and she doesn’t care. It’s ‘Mommy, Mommy,’ and she’ll cling to me. We knew that she would still do that thing, she’d still smile at me and insist that I pick her up. So we couldn’t really cast anybody else. I asked Shiloh about being Aurora, and she laughed in my face. She said she’d be a horned creature. Brad and I made the decision that we wouldn’t keep them from sets and the fun of making movies, but we wouldn’t [glorify it either]—we wouldn’t make it a good thing or a bad thing. But I would really prefer they do something else… after two days of it, Brad and I were so stressed we never wanted to do it again.”

Holy Moses ..she’s gorgeous! Fierce cover ..just FIERCE!

Shiloh is hilarious! Angelina looks truly stunning in this photoshoot. Fierce! From past pictures with her kids (alas, no more, sad for me), you could always tell Vivienne is mommy’s girl, the one who sticks to her the most.

Fantastic interview. Many thanks to all you guys who posted it on the last thread. It sure beats endless pages of troll diarrhea.

Shiloh and Vivi crack me up. Love the JP kids, just like their parents.

Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Touch Down In France On Private Jet With Their Six Children
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have six children which must be pretty hard to deal with luckily they’re gazillionaires who can afford to take private jets everywhere and hire an army of nannies to care for their children.

Here the couple are arriving into France on their private jet along with the six little Jolie-Pitts. The family are pretty au fait with the country as not only do they have an extensive estate in the South of France but Jolie’s mum was also French.

Jolie’s currently promoting new movie Maleficient for Disney in which she plays an evil queen. Ang and Ella Fanning were in Paris earlier this week for the re vamp of Sleeping Beauty in which Ang’s daughter Vivienne stars as a young princess Aurora.

OMG! Oh my Angie! Oh what she said about Viv! And Shiloh! lol. Oh what she said about Brad! Oh my god! This is as perfect as one can get in this life.
.
Hey JP fans……. methinks a certain species of dubious humanity has been struck dumb. LMAO. Lets hope they remain that way.

“So we couldn’t really cast anybody else. I asked Shiloh about being Aurora, and she laughed in my face.”

.
LOL can I love Shiloh any more , she sure has her mothers spunky spirit.

She’s stunning, powerful, and incredibly intelligent. Brad Pitt is very lucky.

I bet Unbroken will be a great movie, and I’ll definitely see Maleficent when it hits the theater.

I love both Shiloh and Vivi, they are so cute and both have characters.

So gorgeous!She is the best,it´s all…congratulacions,Elle magazine,
is sold everything!

That's Right @ 05/07/2014 at 11:20 am

She is just a timeless, unconventional beauty! I love the photo of her in the leather skirt, so cute.

I do like her wording about how she views her and Brad’s differences: drive each other beautifully crazy. That a good place to be when you view your differences as beautiful and not as something you want to change or hate about your loved one. Being different is what makes us unique from the next person and she phrased it so well.

I love how Angie is involved in every detail of any project with which she is involved. She is a worker bee……..

=====
I will add Dawne that Angie is the Queen Bee, the humungous energy she has and the way she is seizing every moment of life is so aspiring and commendable to see & hear, Brad you lucky lucky guy what a breath of fresh air from dullard EX’s who only needed you to prop them up ( you keep me together man) , no wonder he cant wipe that big smile of his off from his face he has a women was born just for him & him alone.

“You get together and you’re two individuals and you feel inspired by each other, you challenge each other, you complement each other, drive each other beautifully crazy.”
=====
She has such delicious way with words I wish they have video taped interviews when they do Magazine interview, I want to see their expression when they talk both her & Brad about family and especially each other, just to see that extra glint in the eye.

I love how Angie spoke about the passion in their relationship and how they are more interested in each other than when they met.I think everyone could tell Viv is a momma’s girl.

Beautiful simply beautiful
.
Can’t beleive it has been 4 years since Angelina did a major interview. Such insight. This is why I want her to write a book or even do something like Own’s Masterclass. With out question I will be buying the magazine
.
Angelina did not say Shiloh was learning to be a flower girl. The writer did. We don’t know it that was just an add by the writer to end the interview or if the writer got that information from Angelina.

Good Lord is she Gorgeous!

Thank you photoshop

She is absolutely stunning. Wow with jaw dropping wide open is the only appropriate reaction to these beautiful photos. And the interview is very entertaining.

Did someone post the full interview from Elle already? If so where can i see it?

Angelina Jolie: I Never Thought I’d Have Children

Angelina Jolie tells ELLE magazine that she never planned for a family or even a relationship like the one she found with Brad Pitt.

“I never thought I’d have children, I never thought I’d be in love, I never thought I’d meet the right person,” the 38-year-old Maleficent star says. “Having come from a broken home–you kind of accept that certain things feel like a fairy tale, and you just don’t look for them.”

Jolie adds of her relationship with her A-list fiance, “You get together and you’re two individuals and you feel inspired by each other, you challenge each other, you complement each other, drive each other beautifully crazy. After all these years, we have history–and when you have history with somebody, you’re friends in such a very real, deep way that there’s such a comfort, and an ease, and a deep love that comes from having been through quite a lot together.”

Prior to becoming a lover and a mother of six, Jolie says her twenties were a time to find her place in the world. She says of that time, “And in fact it wasn’t a need to be destructive or rebellious — it’s that need to find a full voice, to push open the walls around you. You want to be free. And as you start to feel that you are being corralled into a certain life, you kind of push against it. It may come out very strange, it may be interpreted wrong, but you’re trying to find out who you are.”

“I realized that very young–that a life where you don’t live to your full potential, or you don’t experiment, or you’re afraid, or you hesitate, or there are things you know you should do but you just don’t get around to them, is a life that I’d be miserable living,” the actress says. “And the only way to feel that I’m on the right path is just to be true to myself, whatever that may be, and that tends to come with stepping out of something that’s maybe safe or traditional.”
